Does any developers have the slightest idea when the 1.2 mobile update may come out? I'm only asking because I've heard some funky stuff such as the late 2015 and 2016.

The only people with information about future updates to mobile is 505Games, anything else you hear is speculation. In the past, 505 Games has not announced any significant plans 2 years in advance. When they have news to announce, they will do so here on the front page of the forum and on their Twitter feed.
