Hello Mobile Terrarians!

Great news for iOS and Android (Google Play) users! We have good amount of fixes (below) going live today - these should make their way to your devices over the next 24h-48h! Thanks so much for your patience and help with identifying many of these bugs/issues!

Amazon users: We've been working with Amazon to fix a Heap memory issue that was in the game and causing it to crash frequently. Progress has been made here...and we are sending our latest ideas up to them for their reaction. Hang in there - we know it is frustrating, but we are going to get this fixed up...steady progress is happening, though we know you obviously cannot see that.

Windows Phone users: We have identified the reason for the crashes - or at least the general area. The game is being flagged with STATUS_HEAP_CORRUPTION because the RtlFreeHeap function has detected a problem. The bad news is that - in general - heap corruptions are not easy to debug because the actual cause of the corruption may be long gone by the time that the corruption is detected. We have been and are working directly with engineers at Microsoft to debug the heap corruption - but it is a difficult process.

This is compounded by some of the changes that take place between the version that goes into certification and the final Retail Release - which is likely why this occurs to you guys and not for anyone in QA or Certification.
All that said, the good news is that we have our latest attempt to sort these issues ready for Microsoft to check over again. No promises it will work, of course - this has been a really tricky one to solve - but here's hoping this one works!

  • Fix for Discount card not working
  • Fix for Skins produce Iron Pickaxe when removed in the wall.
  • Fix for Beetle armor: Set bonus reads "Minion damage +"
  • Fix for Pre-Hardmode Crimson does not convert grass or trees to spread. Crimson will only spread on dirt blocks (Galaxy S4, Lollipop 5.0.1). Related, you can try to plant Crimson Seeds on grass, and the seeds will be used, but no Crimson is planted.
  • Fix for Ultrabright Torches from the Traveling Merchant don’t produce light when held, and when you break them, the item doesn’t drop
  • Fix for Rain becomes fast when using touchscreen on point placing.
  • Fix for Beetle armor is not giving the proper set bonus
  • Fix for Swapping between items will send out multiple flails or harpoons
  • Fix for Chinese lantern can not be bought from merchant
  • Fix for Old credits are displaying
  • Semi Fix for Timers are not working (they are working fine but they lack feedback so we made the texture brighter and removed the highlighting)
  • Fix ocean biome detection
  • Fix non-ocean fish catches in ocean
  • Fix fishing in lava or honey
  • Handle situations where DetermineFishingCatch may return null (e.g. fishing in lava)
  • Fix when fish catch is determined (now done only once whenever the bobber reels, not multiple times when the fishing rod is cast)
  • Fix when the sonar potion message appears and disappears
  • Fix bait usage; now correctly only used when reeling in, instead of when the fish catch is determined
  • Fix for Solar eclipse enemies not properly targetting enemies
  • Fix for Missing hit effect for worms
  • Fix for Vile Powder fails to turn penguin to corrupt penguin.
  • Fix for able to summon a pirate/frost invasion once
  • Fix for Players and NPC/enemies cannot move down through platform stairs

  • Fix issue reports of Plantera Bulbs growing when only one Mechanical Boss was defeated instead of all three
  • Fix issue where the recipe for Pressure Plate Track would not be properly discovered with any pressure plate

This isn't a bug, it's intentionally disabled/not implemented.

In order to comply with game ratings and online interactions, the mobile 'manufacturers' (Google/Apple/Amazon/Microsoft) do not permit user-modifiable game content, such as writing on signs (renaming chests probably falls under that, too.).

The same restriction applies to all of the console platforms - it tied in with their EULAs.

Until/unless these restrictions are removed by game manufacturers and distributors, this feature will not be available on mobile.

I don't believe it! That might be the stupidest rule I've heard. What on earth is wrong with writing on some signs?

What I don't understand is people have posted screenshots of conversations with codeglue where they have stated that they have fixed signs. If it's not possible then why, as it seems, lie?

I'd have to see the exact conversation, but "fixed signs" doesn't necessarily mean "signs now display text in multiplayer". Its quite possible they could be broken in other ways, or in singleplayer. (I'm not sure if they work there or not)

Perhaps that is the bug - Single Player they don't work either? I just tried and couldn't get them to work...but then again, I do not play mobile extensively, so I could just be doing it wrong. Any experienced Mobile Terrarian want to give that a shot and let me know before tomorrow? :)
 
Okay they still haven't fixed the glitch where the Angler spawns off map. Still can't do fishing quests because of it... -_-

Oh I see, so they can't be implemented in multiplayer, due to restrictions. But what's stopping them fixing them in singleplayer? They can't just ignore single player signs because they can't do it in multiplayer.

I can't get evidence unfortunately. But a guy posted on here an email he sent to codeglue which said something like 'have you fixed the signs' and they said 'yes, you can now write on signs!'

Oh I see, so they can't be implemented in multiplayer, due to restrictions. But what's stopping them fixing them in singleplayer? They can't just ignore single player signs because they can't do it in multiplayer.

That is why I asked for someone experienced to check in a SP world, which was just done. ;)

Now I can raise it today on the regular calls. :)
 
Any word on how it went with the latest attempts to fix Windows Phone? I'd be a lot less frustrated if this process was more transparent.

Okay they still haven't fixed the glitch where the Angler spawns off map. Still can't do fishing quests because of it... -_-
Yeah. I had a ton of pixel art, a full on fishron arena, and a recreation of the Mines of Moria. Half of it's gone because the map shrank for whatever reason. I WANT MY GOLD DECORATIONS BACK!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a multiplayer on free ?
