Do you think Mods would be great for PE and console

If 1.4 came with console mode support it would be the perfect update because it would allow the community to adjust the game as they see fit. It would keep new content coming in way after the final update.

Mods on any other platform than PC are very unlikely due to the fact they allow unsigned code to run on normally restricted platforms. Exceptions to this rule are pretty rare and only exist in large AAA titles.

It's a nice dream to be able to play mods on console and mobile, but like omega said, the people who are in charge don't like mods, the only hope I see is if they make an exception like with fallout 4, but it's unlikely that will ever happen.

I know virtually nothing about how mods work in games, Or how hard this would be to do, But I really want some of the more famous mods to be released as dlc for console (ex Thorium, Calamity, Joost, Fargos) hell i would even pay for it, I don't care. I really want to know if this is possible.

I would love this to happen, But in my heart I know it isn't possible, Though maybe They could have some more famous mods like Calamity and thorium come out as dlc?

Normally I would say it would be impossible seeing it as only a download, but now becoming a steam app, increases the chance of the app coming to mobile and console slightly higher.

If you look that steam is now getting tmodloader as an steam exclusive app, it may Be likely that tmodloader May be added to mobile and console, but I’m not saying it is very likely I’m saying it is a 15% chance of it happening

No, there will never be mods the way tML do things on console or mobile. The platform owners will never allow it, as it would enable hackers to run their own code. It would only be a matter of time before security is broken. And that would kill the platform, at least console anyway (mobile might still survive).

There is also no .NET on any other platforms than pc, so the methods tML uses to run mods would have to be rewritten. Likely a full rewrite would be needed. Also the mods themselves wouldn't be compatible. Likely they would have to be rewritten from scratch for each additional platform.

Converting mods to DLC might actually be the easiest way to get Thorium, Calamity etc to console/mobile. It wouldn't be easy, but technically it's possible. There are legal issues that prevent that from happening though. Mods are owned by their respective creator, not Re-Logic. 505 (the publisher for Terraria on all platforms but pc) would have to buy the rights to port mods from each mod creator. To offset the costs they would also have to charge money for it. I don't think the community would understand or accept that (I can already imagine the :red:storm that would cause).

Then there's performance. Even though the latest update improved things a great deal, there are still issues. The added weight that DLC would carry, could cause Terraria to become unplayable.

Well like how Bethesda did mods if they built it in then it would be required which is why console won't use tmodloader unless required.
