When making my other post on adding abilities to minecarts that dont have one, I was very surprised to read that, "With the exception of the default cart given when the player does not have a Minecart equipped and the Digging Molecart, all Minecart variants have the same acceleration and max speed" (according to the wiki). Regardless of if you are using the shroom minecart, hell minecart, or literal moonlord-drop meowmere minecart, they are all mechanically the same??
This unironically makes the mindcarp one of the best in most situations due to it having an ability, one of only three in the game to actually have an ability? (four, technically, if we count the "low light" emitted by the shroomcart as one worthy of consideration, which I do not), the others being the hellcart (7 seconds of lava immunity) and molecart (digs and lays rails). I feel like this is an incredible missed opportunity. So, in addition to the buffs for existing minecarts mentioned in the other post, here are some new minecraft ideas:

Dirt Minecart 'for dirt enthusiasts': Crafted with the dirtiest dirt and a minecart.

Pumpkin Minecart (+2): looks like a big jackolantern, and grants 2 defense while riding. Crafted out of pumpkin.

Shooting Starcart: has a shooting star trail, and has one of the fastest top speeds of any pre-hm cart. Also gives increased mana regen proportional to movement speed. Crafted out of fallen stars and a basic minecart.

Shimmer Minecart (+1) 'localized shimmer phasing!': Prevents you from shimmer phasing while riding, meaning you can have rails through shimmer. Obtained by shimmering the Starcart.

Jousting Minecart: A unicorn themed cart with a large horn on the front that deals massive damage based on speed (the highest contact damage of any cart if at top speed). Crafted with the jousting lance, minecart, and unicorn horn.

Battering Ram: Slower, but still deals higher impact damage and knockback. Crafted with dynasty wood, a minecart, and cogs.

Wasp Minecart (+1): a hardmode upgrade to the bee minecart that deals much higher contact damage compared to most other carts, and also does contact damage even if you are not moving. Dropped from plantera.

Fishron Minecart (+6): a hardmode upgrade to the mindcarp, that is now FASTER in water. Dropped by Duke Fishron.

Solar Minecart (+8): a temple themed cart that gains speed and defense when in direct sunlight (surface during the day). Crafted with solar fragments.

Blizzard Minecart: (+5): a frost legion cart that can make temporary ice rails floating in the air. A much faster, though non-permanent upgrade to the molecart. Dropped by the ice queen.

Pumpking's Chariot (+8): a pumpkin moon cart that leaves a green flame in its wake on the rails. Dropped by pumpking.

Prismantic Minecart (+8): constantly reflects color and has a rainbow trail. Second highest acceleration speed second only to the meowmere and produces bright light.

Luminite Minecart (+10, 20% DR): Gives a damage resistance in exchange for limited mobility.

Lunar Minecarts: one for each of the pillar fragments, perhaps giving class bonuses while riding.

Wooden Minecart (default): No bonus

Steel Minecart: +2 Defense while riding

Desert Minecart: Increase enemy spawn rate

Bee Minecart: Does 10% damage more than other minecarts

Ladybug Minecart: Increase Luck stat by 0.2 while riding

Pigron Minecart: +4 Defense while riding, has 0.2 more acceleration than other minecarts

Sunflower Minecart: Decrease enemy spawn rate

Shroom Minecraft: +4 defense and increase mana regeneration while riding

Gems Minecart: Increase different stats depending on the gem level while riding
Am: +1 Defense
Top: +2 Defense
Sap: +4 Defense
Em: +4 Defense and Increase life regen
Ruby: +4 Defense, Increase life regen and accelerates 0.2 faster
Dia: +4 Defense, Increase life and mana regen and accelerates 0.2 faster

Beetle: Reduce damage taken by a 10%, increase enemy spawn rate and increase aggro while riding

Meowmere cart: Does a lot of damage and accelerates 0.6 faster

Party Wagon: +4 Defense

The Dutchman: +4 Defense and accelerates 0.4 faster

Steampunk Minecart: +4 Defense, accelerates 0.4 slower, also is capable to reach 15 mph more than other minecarts

Coffin Minecart: Increase enemy spawn rate, decrease aggro

Fart Minecart: +2 Defense

Terra Minecart: +10 Defense, +5% Damage (to the player)

Ideas:

Spectral Minecart: Increase mana regen, Increase Max Mana by 40 (10 Spectral Bars + Steel Minecart)

Shroomite Minecart: While riding you have a 10% chance to not consume ammo (10 Shroomite Bars + Steel Minecart)

Queen's personal chariot: Accelerates 0.5 faster, +8 Defense, does 10% more damage (EoL 5% drop chance)

Fishron Minecart: accelerates 0.4 faster, +6 defense

While in water gain a plus: +4 defense, accelerates 0.2 faster, the player can breath underwater (Duke Fishron 5% drop chance)

Shimmer Condenser cart: +2 defense

Can phase trough enemies if you're moving at 26 mph or faster

This doesn't work on bosses

While pashing you don't receive damage
(Result of Shimmering an Steel Minecart at any moment)

Friendly Wagon: Reduces enemy spawn rate and reduces aggro (Sold by Travelling Merchant for 25 Gold after a Mech Boss is defeat)

The Wasp one could be a Plantera's drop

Thats actually a good one. I was thinking something crazy like, when at top speed you summon a sand cloud around you that pulls enemies in to make them more likely to be hit? Anyways I like yours better... but not sure if this should be unique to the desert cart.
Bee Minecart: Does 10% damage more than other minecarts
10 seems like nothing when the carts usually one shot enemies anwyays.

Why defense and acceleration? according to the wiki its main thing is stealth

four defense seems a bit much. And why mana regeneration? I like the idea but could be best on another cart. Again, it already glows slightly.

Im fine with the gem minecarts being a cosmetic show-off. but I suppose a few defense point (not the increase life and mana regen parts) could be good.

I agree that this cart should be one of the fastest, or perhaps faster acceleration, by why damage?

im not sure how slow 0.4 is, but sure on the defense.

A faster cart would be cool, but i dont understand the defense.

I dont know about the free water breathing. Having that on top of the fact its much faster underwater means there is no downside to having minecart tunnels completely flooded. Besides, drowning is near negligible in most cases.

Carts, to my knowledge, already keep you moving forward even if you run into an enemy that cant be one shot. This would effectively remove the contact damage? I like the idea of a shimmer cart, but not like this...

I love these ideas, but still think Minecarts should remain mainly Cosmetic. We already have post-Mech minecart upgrade kit, I think that's enough.

thats master mode exclusive, and also applies to all minecarts equally. It doesnt make sense to me that an early game cart you can get in less than a minute is just as fast as a moonlord drop. And both with no mechanical difference.
 
The Steel Minecart is made with Iron, but it's name is "Steel Minecart", ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

I made the reply before reading to previous post

The defense is because you still receive damage in a minecart, but if you are going at top speed then you kill enemies before they touch, but you still can receive damage

The "pashe" thing is to prevent receive damage from enemies that you don't one shot because have to many life or your not going fast enough

Add complex effects to minecarts is unnecessary since you're just use it to move a little bit faster

Shroom minecart has mana regen because you make mama potions with magic mushrooms (?

Minecarts at top speed already one shots the majority of enemies, but going at Top Speed. One with more base damage would kill even if is not going at its limit, same as the Wasp one

I agree on gem ones, but I don't know, gems progression(?

Sunflower only reduces spawn rate, FW reduces both, but maybe would be funnier if increases both instead of reducing

Pigron could reduce aggro

Fishron is water related(?

Classes ones because why not? (Should add a Tetric One)

Since there's Meowmere one, Luminite ones seems unnecessary
 
Party wagon cart should be all bright and flashy lol
