I've been playing on tModLoader with a friend the last few weeks, and for the last week or so he's been having issues on the game.
It started off as audio issues - whenever he joins me (or any world for that matter,) all of his audio cuts out. He has audio (music, at least) on the menu, but in-game everything is quiet.
Now more recently, the server seems to be conflating the both of us. For some reason his character's name displays the same as mine for me and in server messages (such as banner announcements.)
Here are all our currently-installed mods:
I've already asked this on reddit (no help, but did get someone saying this happened in vanilla too) and I've searched the web and had him try tons of different fixes, from verifying his game files to opting into the tModLoader beta, and nothing is working.
Does anyone know what might be causing this, how it might be fixed, and if these 2 issues are related? Please help!
