PC my character and world with 100+ hours is gone.

I had a world been playing on for a while and I tried to load it and it went all black then crashed my game so I eventually gave up on it and created a new word and got back to where I was still with the same character. And today I opened the game and my character was impossible to open and looked like the default character and said 0 seconds with no trace it ever existed.

OOF. That feels bad. I don't know what it feels like because I'm a nerd with dummy powers, but my 1.3-playing friend told me he lost his once. I think he said something about portals, water, or turning it off at the wrong time? I dunno but it sounds like corrupted files and stuff. If you remember some weird thing you were doing around then, my best guess is to avoid it. Good luck.
