I fixed it. If anybody else has this problem right click on it's steam icon then click manage the click browse local files then go up and click common and delete the terraria file from there delete and reinstall it on steam and then it worked for me.

I'm having this same issue, what version of windows are you using? I'm on windows 11 and tried this method but it has not worked I'm not sure if the version even matters, also, have you messed with any cloud settings prior to fixing this issue?

Strange, I've been having the same issue and it didn't work for me either

Edit: I figured my issue out, I had previous saves that were corrupted, worth a check perhaps

im having similar issues, i deleted my terraria files and reinstalled, didnt work, any other way to fix?

Kept getting a bug where I got this crash message but only when it would have taken me to a character selection screen, e.g. clicking single player. Essentially if these fixes haven't worked for you check your users folder in this order. c:/users/username(this'll be your admin username, not "username")documents/mygames/terraria/players. delete all player files and try running the game now. You will delete previous characters so if you have one you really want to save try weeding out unimportant characters first seeing if those player files were corrupted. this is an issue with terraria updating compatibility with windows 11 and I don't know if you have to update versions but I did originally thinking windows 10 was having an issue but 11 still did the same problem and it was only after that I found a fix. *additional note* your users file might be under one drive not your C drive or likewise its under another drive. I found mine in my onedrive but this tip prompted me to check my boot drive.

doing all of this is pretty unnecessary, cloud provider crashes usually just require a simple uninstalling of onedrive
