Weapons & Equip Nadir: An Anti-materiel rifle that might be too much to handle.

I need to stop leaving to get milk.

Anyways! Nadir. The nadir of something is considered the opposite of its zenith. It is the lowest point in a thing's particular development.

It is crafted with guns obtained throughout progression at a Ancient Manipulator:

1 Musket / 1 Undertaker
1 Molten Blaster
1 Dart Gun / Dart Rifle
1 Uzi
1 Chain Gun
1 Nail Gun
1 Sniper Rifle
1 Onyx Blaster
1 Gatligator
1 S.D.M.G
30 Luminite Bars
15 of each Celestial Fragment

The Nadir looks similar to an anti-materiel rifle with the color scheme of the Zenith, as it is part of the final class. The Nadir is an intentionally deceptive weapon. When it is shot at a target, the shot deals a mere 10-15 damage. Wait, what? I'm not kidding. Is this junk? Well, no.

It actually inflicts a debuff called Lowest Point. A few seconds later, a bunch of bullets rain down from multiple directions, dealing upwards of 400 to even 500 DPS. With ranged bonuses..this can be absolutely devastating. It also has a really good scope that can be even farther than the Sniper Rifle.

To balance it, the Nadir fires a lot slower than even the Sniper Rifle, so take note of this. It also can knock someone back very fairly when they shoot it, with massive recoil. This can be lethal if you fall off a cliff and have no protection.

Tooltip: Brings enemies to their lowest point.

This weapon is the Ranged equivalent to Zenith, and it can be made into the modifier of Unreal.

So, the Zenith is good because you click and then everything in the general direction of your cursor gets killed instantly

An alternative that takes several seconds to kill one enemy is absolutely awful, even a megashark will be more convenient in the endgame. No matter much better the DPS is, the Zenith is always going to be better because it's wall piercing, infinite pierce and covers a massive area.

Also, 500 DPS is nothing... A Venus magnum with Silver Bullets has that much.

Never heard the word "nadir" in my life until today. From this thread.

ACME?!

Like the idea of the name and Idea of the weapon but how it could be obtained/look can be different. I feel like all final weapon should take a different route at being obtained. In the base game you craft the zenith but you fight a boss for the terraprism. When I was thinking of final weapons I make them obtained from the 4 core things you will be doing in terraria(Exploring/Creating/Boss Battles/ Events). Maybe lock it behind a event called the bullet rain. A event which has no enemies but u need to survive in a bullet hell box.

I feel like the look of it being similar to the Zenith can also make it feel less unique. the 2 final weapons we have currently(terraprism/Zenith) Look completely different from each other. I feel like giving this weapon a wooden finish or making it look like the "No land beyond" from Destiny may fit its name. Or even something like the noisey cricket from MIB

Also props for that name. It sounds hella cool

NOTE: ALL IS MY OPINION I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THE IDEA

Oh.. I didn't know.

What if instead it fired a massive bullet that sprayed bullets in all directions, and did the same debuff effect on ALL targets the mini bullets touch, causing chain reaction meltdowns. It could also have 1000+ DPS.

Said bullet could also explode on contact, dealing 200 damage with just Musket Balls, and a lot more with other ammo. It could be almost like an antimatter weapon.

The thing about anti-materiel rifles is that they were specifically made for one purpose: :red:ing demolishing whatever unfortunate thing you chose to aim one at, regardless of how tough or armored said thing was.

An anti-materiel rifle in this game should be able to turn pretty practically anything into a bloody paste in one hit; nothing short of 30k damage per hit would suffice for a weapon bearing the title, full stop

Update:

I don't really like this idea anymore; it seems to exhibit a problem of suggested zenith styled weapons where it doesn't echo actual progression, and it often just copies the style of Zenith.

Also, yeah, the mechanics were pretty bad. A weapon that takes time to kill, and offers little DPS, is not great.

If I had to make this possibly redeemable, which is not really a priority but let's hypothesize, the Nadir would deal exactly 1000 ranged damage (plus ammo) and it would be post Moon Lord. Shots with it would, instead, instantly create a massive implosion effect that sucks in enemies and eviscerated them. It fires slowly, but can wipe out entire regions in seconds. It fires at about half the speed of the Sniper Rifle.

An obtaining method would be unknown. Probably some kind of event as someone above said months back.

The Nadir deals enormous damage but again, fires pretty slowly. The purpose of the Nadir would be to just literally kill anything in sight in the post game. It would stack up to the Zenith by just being slower.

Honestly this hole of "there is an op endgame sword so we should make 3 different ones equal to it" never ends. All the "Zenith equalivents" Or "Zenith alternatives" type of ideas have a massive flaw where they cannot be more unique than the Zenith, and even if they somehow managed to be equal to the Zenith, they end up as just reskins of the Zenith because they do everything that Zenith already does.

I think Zenith was a great addition as the coolest weapon and sword in the game by also having a really neat concept (culmination of a journey forged into the ultimate sword) but one thing it bringed up that I don't like is these "op final zenith equal weapons" type of ideas around everywhere.
