Music Pack Needing help fixing an issue with a music pack I'm trying to make

Tried to make a music pack and ran into an issue where the music would play fine initially, but sometimes when triggering the condition for a new track to start playing (entering a new biome, etc), the music volume would set itself to zero. Additionally, sometimes some tracks would have some audio glitches not present in the original file (loud brief CHTZ sounds at the very beginning of the audio- I could spam this by leaving and re-entering the jungle because the jungle track was bugged in this way).

I thought this was probably an issue with the file size of the audio, so I compressed them (originally 441mb, and the compressed size was around 279mb) and instead of fixing this it made it worse- it would be more likely to set volume to zero, and audio glitches would occur for sound effects not touched by the resource pack. (The method of compression was setting the bitrate of all files to 192kbps using the program FREAC.)

My original thought that it was the file size couldn't be it, because I checked the file size of a separate music pack by somebody else, off of the Steam workshop- the size of this pack is around 361mb. The compressed version of my pack is lower than that, so it probably isn't file size. My second thought would be that MP3 files just don't work as well as OGG files, but the music pack from Steam I was using as a guide is also in MP3 format.

Can anyone please help?

Converting them to .oggs instead technically fixed my problem. I have other ones now, but they're ones I can manage on my own.
