Newtonian Gel: Boosts defense proportional to the strength of the attack.
The way I see this working is that when hit with an insanely strong attack, it acts as if you have very high armor, but provides next to no benefit if hit with something weaker. This makes it an interesting choice on whether its worth the accessory slot to you.
This should be done using armor, not a flat damage reduction, so enemies with piercing properly ignore it.
Perhaps for balance, it slowly adjusts over time rather than having preset hard thresholds. So if you are casually playing and occasionally get hit by a bat or something for 20 damage, and then randomly get hit by a boulder for 250, it would treat that as "high" damage and reduce it accordingly. But in a boss fight, where the average damage you are taking is much higher, it is less impactful on anything but the strongest attacks, so you do not get this high defense boost the entire fight.
