10/10 we need at least one more ranger armor pre-HM! However the look deosn't follow but maybe the look of the actual armor shall be moved to a Vanity set? it doesn't even look like it's made of obsidian… because sorry, an obsidian helmet, fine but a hat made of obsidian no! cmon!

Hey that’s quite an ingenious idea! Keep up the creative flow.So, 1.3 added a very cool looking Obsidian Armor set. Unfortunately, it's utterly worthless as an armor set, because it provides defense that is already outclassed by everything else at that tier, and gives no other bonuses. So, what gives? Was it meant to be a vanity set? If so, why was it given so much (but at the same time so little) defense?
So, I propose a set bonus for this armor. Since it looks very Ranger-y with its hat and longcoat, I've made the bonus with that in mind.

-Consecutive hits with guns raise their critical hit chance.
Every consecutive hit with a gun raises that guns's critical hit chance by 1%. Missing removes 10% of the crit bonus, but will not go lower than the base crit chance. Maxes out at +30% crit chance. Making multiple hits with piercing ammo does not increase the crit chance multiple times.
This armor set would greatly benefit those with steady aim, and be worthless to those who prefer to "spray and pray." For example, with the Revolver, the DPS from wearing Necro is 93. With the Obsidian set at the max crit boost, it has a DPS of 104. If you can land your shots reliably, this armor will be stronger, but only if you can land your shots reliably.

Great suggestion I agree. Melee and magic have 2 mid-late pre HM sets, ranged should have 2 sets as well. I really like the set bonus you came up with.
However, I think the each individual piece could use a bonus as well (with the bonus balanced accordingly if need be). I suggest each piece should increase bullet/arrow velocity by 5%, which helps maintain the set bonus and encourages an accurate sniper playstyle without giving too much dps or utility.

If this armour was just another standard ranged armour I'd be happy, as you don't get your true first ranged set until post Skeletron. For example it could have an 8% increased ranged damage and a 15% chance not to consume ammo. But your idea is unique and it would benefit people with good aim, however if you aim is bad (me
) then the set bonus won't be as useful.
