yea the new content will be nice but it only goes so far you have to understand it can take years to get an update sometimes thats ALOT of playtime just waiting for an update and Alot of playtime collecting weapons armor pets vanity items etc new content doesnt make up for all the time lost spent collecting that stuff especially when the excuse is its not "endgame" content when the pets and vanity stuff never was endgame to begin withI doubt anyone is complaining about not having the exclusives. More that the exclusive content in question was lazy and not all that good. They said in the OP they will look at the content and possibly bring it back. Though when we get them back they will have real work put in this time(better custom sprites, individual abilities, and so on). Don't be upset for the loss, 1.3 will add so much content that you won't miss the old stuff that much.
The updates took years before due to problems in development of the old version. The rewrite currently being worked on is specifically addressing that problem to make updates much faster to port. This should hopefully catch console up to PC in a much shorter time.yea the new content will be nice but it only goes so far you have to understand it can take years to get an update sometimes thats ALOT of playtime just waiting for an update and Alot of playtime collecting weapons armor pets vanity items etc new content doesnt make up for all the time lost spent collecting that stuff especially when the excuse is its not "endgame" content when the pets and vanity stuff never was endgame to begin with
yep and during that time between updates the game was played items were collected pets were farmed (and i still dont have the zombie after doing every blood moon i could) and yet its being taken away losing all that time and effort spent going after these items is painful to say the least when a reason for it being removed is its not "endgame" content look at the reasoning 1 says its not endgame 2 says the game has outgrown exclusives when the pc still has its exclusives 3 says endgame is different now and 4 says whats left will come to pcThe updates took years before due to problems in development of the old version. this might explain the items begin removed although i have no clue how the Sharanga a Pre-hard mode bow is "endgame" content. but besides that why are the vanity items and pets being removed?
1 says its not endgame
2 says the game has outgrown exclusives when the pc still has its exclusives
3 says endgame is different now
4 says whats left will come to pc
the pc does have 2 exclusive items maybe more but i can only remember 2 the heroes clothes and the plumbers clothes both have versions that can only be obtained on the pc thus making it exclusive if the game has truly outgrown exclusives when will we be seeing those items added to console? if they are not coming to console then why cant we keep our pets and vanity exclusives? When this was all added, it was circa 1.1-tier content. It was added on top of the existing PC content with the intent of "extending" the game when everyone thought no more content was coming to Terraria period. Thus, endgame.
Sharanga is an "interesting" case in balance and placement... just saying.
It WAS endgame in 2013 when it was added. In 2017, it is not - heck, it hasn't been for some time.
PC does not have any exclusives. It only has "things that have not yet made it to console/mobile".
It is. 1.1 ended with the Mech bosses. Think about how much more has been added on both sides of that... even before 1.3 hits.
It says that it may. Not that it will.
Not saying that losing some of the items/pets/etc won't have some element of pain to it - no one is saying that - only that the long term gain outweighs the short term pain.
Now that console exclusives and mobile exclusives are going to be removed, what, may i ask, are going to attract people to buy the console and mobile version of the game? It would make much more sense to buy the pc version , since it has the most updates constantly. Instead of completely removing them, i would have enjoyed the team modify them to make them more unique. Especially the pets, those were my favorites :c . Eh, i guess all good things come to an end, I hope to see the terraria community more unified, and PC updates coming faster to mobile & Console.

its a vanity item that is exclusive to pc when we are losing our excusive vanity items how is that not a good example?Because not everyone is a PC gamer. Some prefer consoles. That's cool, that's their thing.
Mobile is a different beast altogether because of its portability.
I'm sorry, I just think the notion that "the only reason anyone bought Terraria on console is Ocram" is a bit of a logical stretch (at least since 1.2).
You mean the different colors? I wasn't here then, but I have to imagine that was a requirement from MS/Sony, because it isn't some planned-out way to give PC "exclusives".
So - not really a good example there.
What will attract them is their platform preference. Not everyone has access to multiple platform choices for gaming. Now that console exclusives and mobile exclusives are going to be removed, what, may i ask, are going to attract people to buy the console and mobile version of the game? for me its more about the time spent getting the items than them being removed i am excited to be getting updates faster now but losing the time and effort spent gathering hurtsMaybe I'm just not the kinda person to really care about cosmetic items that much, but it just boggles my mind how many people are hesitating over the loss of cosmetic exclusive items, when we're talking about getting actual content instead, faster.
Going from 1.2.4 to 1.3.0 is a huge, simply amazing leap in content and quality of the game, and 1.3.5 is even better. It is easily worth the cosmetic items and poorly implemented content that console/mobile players will lose, and then some.
There are so many weapons, items, playstyles, new bosses... ones that are actually designed and implemented well, with Re-Logic brand of quality (and not someone else's work) that there's no real reason to not embrace the new content.
I mean, sure there's sentimentality, but there should be a point there where it just isn't worth it.
Those of you who have never played 1.3.0+ Terraria... prepare to be amazed by all the neat cool stuff in the game.
No to 3DS, yes to Switch. Will the 3ds and Nintendo switch also be getting 1.3?
Nobody has said that we're losing our versions of the Heroe's Clothes and Plumber's Clothes. They're a different color on console likely to avoid issues with Nintendo. They're not "exclusives" they're in every version, just some with a different color.its a vanity item that is exclusive to pc when we are losing our excusive vanity items how is that not a good example?
Both times I got terraria on console (ps3/ps4) it was 5 bucks. How much is it normally? Guess I caught a lucky sale both times.
Personally, I'd like to share a few ideas on how a reworked Ocram could fight.
So obviously, keep Ocram's design the same beacuse that is honestly perfect how it is.
Ocram always moved quite, weirdly. His sprite would turn upside down as he shared the Eye of Cthulu's movement pattern which looked a little silly if I'm honest. It's hard to take a boss seriously when he's upside down half the time. So instead, why don't we make Ocram walk? I mean, those things on the side do look like legs afterall. He could perhaps jump up and levetate at times as well.
In terms of attacks, his servants could become deadly homing explosive attacks which have less of a spawn rate but deal a serious punch. The servants of course can be destroyed.
The main gem on his forehead could sometimes erup in a green laser barage, sending somewhat strong lasers flying all over the place.
Ocram could also have a charging attack, which wouldn't last too long but could deal serious damage, this attack could be easily avoided by staying off ground, though he could also have a leaping variant which isn't as strong but is able to hit airborne players.
Now I mentioned a feature where he would jump and levetate, well I have an idea. When he levetates he could open his mouth and unveil a vortex which sucks in players, if players get too close they will take continuous damage.
Oh, and since Ocram is land based he can't keep up with players very well.. So he has an ability just like the WoF where if you try going too far away he will use those green tendtils on his back to reel you back in. (In expert mode these could also poison you).
So that's phase 1 Ocram.
Phase 2 Ocram gets more challenging.
Remember his barrage of demon scythes? Well, let's bring those back. But green and more deadly. I feel like this attack had to come back just due to how memorable it was.
His other attacks would be more sporadic, dished out slightly faster and powerful, making him harder and less predictable. His defence would drop by a fair amount however.
His drops? Well, let's make his drops the exclusive console items! Items like the Tizona could be buffed up to the same power as the Duke Fishron items, this would mean these items are no longer craftable. Ocram could drop Souls of Blight again, though these would be used as a means to make his boss spawner easier to craft. His spawner would have two recipies, one being 30 Souls of Blight and the other would consist of 20 of each gem, perhaps 5 Souls of Night and maybe a new item called a Mysterious Gem, which would only spawn into the world once Golem has been defeated. These Mysterious Gems would naturally generate underground, they would emit a distinct green glow. 5 of these would be needed alongside the other materials to craft the Infected Gemstone, which would look just like Ocram's main gem. This would be Ocram's new spawner.
Once Ocram is defeated, a mesaage would appear saying something like:
'Powerful lifeforms detected, watch out...'
This would trigger every console exclusive enemy to start spawning into the world, they would have decreased spawn rates so they would be somewhat rare, however they would be much stronger than usual. These enemies could have a 1/200 chance to drop a Soul of Blight.
Ocram's drops are as followed:
Soul of Blight 25 - 40 (100%)
Greater Healing Potion 5 - 15 (100%)
Sparkly Wings (10%)
Ocram Mask (14.29%)
Ocram Trophy (10%)
Mysterious Gem Fragments 1 - 5 (100%)
5 Mysterious Gem Fragments are needed to craft 1 Mysterious Gem.
Ocram is guaranteed to only drop one of these items at a time:
Tizona
Tonbogiri
Sharanga (with Spectral Arrows)
Vulcan Repeater (with Vulcan Bolts)
Ocram also has a very rare chance to drop the following, only one may drop at a time though:
Vial of Blood (5%)
Beeswax (5%)
Wolf Fang (5%)
Brain (5%)
Petri Dish (5%)
Cabbage (5%)
Mysterious Gems can be used with bones to craft a Suspicous Looking Skull, which is Ocram's orginal, overpriced spawner. This item will simply act as a placeable lightsource which glows a nice green colour.
In expert mode, Ocram will be stronger and quicker and have a brand new move which causes Ocram to shoot out poison spikes. Ocram will drop a loot bag containing the various Ocram drops and a brand new item being a new accessory called the 'Infected Jewel'. This acessory grants you the power of Ocram, as you will shoot out green lasers when enemies get close with the occasional green demon scythe which can pass though walls. The item works just like Plantera's Spore Sac. Though the projectiles can't home in, but will shoot in the direction of the enemy.
Also this version of Ocram can be battled at any time of the day.
Well, that's my idea. I hope you enjoy my thoughts for a reworked Ocram!
