Hey Terrarians! Do you wanna build a
Inspired by Throarbin's Pass the World YouTube video (with a bit of different rules), we are going to play on the world separately and see if we can make it beautiful while beating all the bosses. Wanna join in?
- I will create a new character and a new world. Large. Expert. Random Evil (it turned out to be a Crimson world). Classic (not Journey Mode).
- I'll play on it for just a bit, build a small starter house, and nothing else.
- According to the schedule, I will send the player file and world file via private message to the next person.
- You'll have a week to play on the world. Within that week, you'll kill your assigned bosses.
- During your week, you can post screenshots here and share any details of your time with the world.
- After your week, you'll send me the player and world file via private message. (I'll double check that everything is okay with the world).
- I'll then send the player and world file off to the next person, and they'll have it for a week. Rinse and repeat until we win!
*All dates are based on the Eastern time zone. If you're in the future, please try to pick up/drop off files based on Eastern time. It's not a deal breaker though.

Sign-ups will be open until Sat, Aug 10 at 10pm ET.Sign ups are now closed!- Check the schedule to make sure you are available to commit, and that you are comfortable killing the assigned bosses.
- Request a specific week/boss combo by posting a message in this thread.
- When you sign up, indicate whether you would like to also be a standby player. Standby players would be contacted if a member ends up not being able to fulfill their week, as an emergency backup. No obligation. You can decide yes/no at the time of need. You can still have your original week as well.
- To be fair to everyone it won't be first come, first serve. If there is more than one member that signed up for the same week, I'll randomly select a member. I don't anticipate that this will be a huge problem though.
- If need be, additional time will be given for sign-ups later if there are weeks that are still open. And if need be, a member can take on a second week if there are still weeks open later.
- You're able to upload and download player and world files, and know where they need to go on your computer.
- You'll be available sometime during your week to play on the world, and to at least beat your two assigned bosses.
- You're able to play on an Expert PC Terraria world successfully.
- You won't grief the world or use exploits. You won't cheat items in.
- You won't make it impossible to progress the world.
- You'll have fun.
- Things happen - if something has come up in your life and you're not able to do your week when it comes time, just let me know and we'll work it out. Communication is key, and we can fix any situation together. No worries.
- Look for a private message from me in your forum inbox here. At some point on the scheduled day, I'll send you the player file and world file.
- Play Terraria using the given player file and world file.
- Play on the world however you would like for however long you'd like during your week. Go exploring, go fishing, make a build or two, do any side quests that you'd like (Old One's Army, Pumpkin Moon, etc). Get some NPCs to move in (or not), get some pylons going (or not), grind for a rare item. You can do as little or as much as you'd like.
- Kill your assigned bosses. You can kill your assigned bosses (and any previous bosses) as many times as you'd like. Don't kill any bosses past your assignment.
- During your week, feel free to post screenshots in this thread showing your progression, and share fun details. Lets us see how the world is coming along.
- When your week is up, at some point on the scheduled day, send me the updated player file and world file in our private message.
- Don't send the files to the next person, send them to me. I'll need to check the world to make sure it's okay before I send it on to the next person.
Q. Is this an official forum project hosted by the forum staff?
A. Nope, it's just me, a regular member, wanting to do something fun with other members.
Q. What's our main goal?
A. To complete a playthrough together (by playing separately, haha) - making a beautiful complete world in which all bosses have been killed, and to have fun along the way.
Q. In Throarbin's awesome video, the point was to not communicate.
A. That's not a question, but I'll answer it anyway. Our rules are different - we want lots of communication for our project.
Q. What if I want to sign up but I'm not sure if I'm available that week?
A. If you're not sure, there may be open spots to fill as we get closer to later dates. If you're more sure of your schedule later you may be able to sign up then.
Q. Do I have to be able to build good?
A. Nope. You don't have to build at all if you don't want to. You can make wooden boxes if you'd like. Or if you love building, you can build as much as you want.
Q. What if other people have built things before me?
A. Do as much as you can to preserve their build. Don't destroy it (unless they've indicated that it's okay to).
Q. What class do I have to play?
A. Whatever class you want. If you get the player file and it's decked out in melee gear, but you want ranger gear, go for it.
Q. What if a boss (that isn't my assigned boss) naturally spawns?
A. Die to it. Or avoid it by going underground. Or any other possibility. Just don't kill it.
Q. What if I whoopsie accidentally killed a boss that wasn't assigned to me (and it's not a previous boss either)?
A. It's very very hard to whoopsie accidentally kill a boss. You shouldn't do it.
Q. What if I'm not sure if I can kill the bosses in Expert? Can I cheat things in?
A. No, please don't. If you're not comfortable playing in Expert, it's best if you skip signing up. You can still stay and watch how the world unfolds though.
Q. What if I thought I could kill the bosses in Expert, but I've tried, and turns out I can't?
A. Just let me know in our private message and we can work things out.
Q. Wait, what is this? How do I play?
A. Hello there. If you are unsure of what's happening, it's probably best not to sign up.
That's it for now. If you're not signing up, and feel inclined, drop a note why (don't have time, wish it wasn't expert, etc), and even if you're not signing up I hope you can stick around to see how the project progresses. Now... Terrarians, are we up for the challenge? Can the TCF members band together to beat a world? Will I ever stop asking questions? We shall soon see.
