Pets are cool and all, but Ngl, they’re kinda boring and in the way sometimes.
So the solution to this is none other than Pet Bonuses!

What if each different pet had a bonus/buff? And depending on how rare the pet is, the better the bonus/buff?

For example, a more common pet such as the Shark Pup, from Shark Bait, could give increased affinity underwater.
Or a more rare pet such as the Estee, from the Celestial Wand, could grant faster mana regeneration.

The point of pets are really just for vanity. Giving them actual functions would be a bit superfluous.

Seconding this. It's why I love and hate Chester. Having a use makes him better than having any other pet, but I want to have other pets, like a Volt Bunny or Spiffo.

There’s a mod for that and as guide said they are vanity giving them stats would remove the ability to customize them as people would minmax their pet to get the best one

Yeah. On Console, where your grappling hook button and open chest button is the same, it is much worse.

I meant it to myself, but i realize that it did kinda sound rude. I’ll try better next time.
