I believe that I speak for a lot of the community when I say that the DreadNautilus not being a boss is a huge missed potential. It has a more complex AI, and a bigger variety of attacks than other mini-boss enemies that it is classified with. (Like Mothron, Ice Golem, Paladin, Hemogoblin Shark, Goblin Summoner, Pirate Captain, Biome Mimics, and a lot more). Not only would this be a great addition to the boss roster, it also would be less work than adding a new boss from scratch. It already has an unused trophy design so that is even less things that would have to be made for it. Plus the fact that it has an achievement for killing it. I know it was on the cutting room floor on whether to make it a full Boss or just a mini-boss, so please let me convince you to at least reconsider it. The DreadNautilus is my favorite design in the game and it would mean the world to see it finally be considered the boss I know it is.

Hey Red, what do I have to do to convince you to promote the DreadNautilus to a boss. I’ve always felt like it was so much more advanced than the other mini-boss enemies that it is classified with.

They had problem with deciding about his fate as enemy or a boss (sadly there is even scrapped trophy for him).

It definitely seems like he was far along before they made him a mini-boss. That’s why I feel if I can convince them enough maybe they might actually make it a boss.

They thought of this and decided against it. Making it a boss would be more unnecessary work so I don't see why.

All I want is a life bar, a trophy, and both Master Mode loot.
The pet of the little Bloody Nautilus (name used on purpose) would be so cute orbiting around the player.

Hello @Redigit🌳 I’m sure you have seen one of my many attempts to persuade you to make The Dreadnautilus a boss. I’ve decided to make one last stand to leave something out here for you to see, then I’ll leave you alone and all people at Re-Logic alone. Hopefully I didn’t come across as annoying or rude. I’m just very passionate about the Dreadnautilus being the boss I know he is, and wanted to at least try to see if I could make a change. I have a bazillion other posts that go into more detail so I won’t go into much here so here is just the TLDR of the other posts.

It has a achievement for killing it.
It is way more advanced than other mini-bosses that is classified with.
The Blood moon has no boss and this would be a lot less work then a new boss.
It has a unused trophy which proves how close it was to be a boss.
This is the last update so this is my last chance for it to be a boss so I had to say something.

That’s a summary of what I had all over the place. I would mean the world for you to at least consider it. Have a good day Red, it’s been a pleasure playing your game, and I look forward to what comes next.

Thank you and Best Regards- N@utilu$🌳

Hi @N@utilu$🌳 looks like you had three separate threads for this, I’ve combined them into one. Please don’t make duplicate threads for the same topic. :)

I didn’t know I could combine them, but will from now on. Thank you

Also I sent you a conversation (Message) if you have time. I know your busy :)

@Redigit🌳 Do I have to beg in order for you to make the Dreadnautilus a boss instead of a mini-boss. Anything is on the table lol. But in all seriousness. Please Red!

This suggestion has been spammed so much I'm inclined to decline it on principle alone.

You cannot, mods can. Instead, just stop duplicating the same suggestion. If it didn't garner support the first time, it won't the next 8 times either.

They thought of this and decided against it. Making it a boss would be more unnecessary work so I don't see why.
As for the actual suggestion, I agree with this post. I don't find it necessary, and the idea was already thought of and scrapped, so apparently they didn't either.

@Noobiescrubpleb Thank you for agreeing and I guess I wanted to make a big enough puddle that eventually someone from Re-Logic would have to step in it. I mostly play on mobile so I can’t use mods unfortunately. At least I’m 99% sure I can’t. I also know it’s unnecessary for it to be a boss and I guess the only reason I’m so obsessed with it is that it is my favorite design and knowing how close it was to be a boss I thought I could persuade them if I could get their attention.

P.S. cool plane videos :)

Great stuff over at @thedkal thread on this topic. If anyone is interested make sure to check it out.

Too be completely honest regarding the Dread Nautilus from a design/looks standpoint and just my thoughts on the enemy is that I think it should have been a Boss/Mini-Boss and have a Relic, Treasure bag, Trophy and Master Mode Drops (like a Pet) associated with it.

It really feels more like a actual Boss/Mini-Boss fight while it is optional to fight it currently (imo) there's to reason to even bother fighting it except for like Bestiary Completion

Unfortunately not too many people go out of their way to fight it. If it was a boss I think it would be like Duke, were it is available from the start of hardmode and is difficult but if you can defeat it then you can kinda skip some parts of hardmode but not to the extent of Duke were you can skip all the way to Moon Lord.

Unnecessary work doesn’t exist in a videogame anything that’s ever added to terraria is unnecessary because it’s already such a perfect game

Here is the link to the thread I was talking about.

Did you know that the bestiary entry for the Blood Squids says “Summoned in small groups by the Nautilus to aid their master in battle. Thick are the streams of blood squirted from their bodies.”

The phrase “aid their master in battle” sure sounds like something used to describe a boss. What do you think?

Considering other similarly-rare enemies such as the frost giant and desert spirt have a healthbar and feel like a miniboss, perhaps this could work for the dreadnautilus too. I otherwise do not really understand what you mean by "making it a boss".
