Resolved [PS3] PS cross platform

need a little clarity as other threads failed to reach a conclusion on this topic.

I'm on PS3 terraria version 1.14 and I am trying to connect to someone on the PS4, version unknown.

from the join screen window their world appears to be available though when I try to enter I get an error message that says error

when I searched online articles I read didn't seem to differentiate between cross save and cross platform play.

is this feature no longer available to those of PS3 and or Vita?
 
Cross play no longer works with PS4, as that version will be different from what PS3/Vita have.

It still works between PS3 and Vita, though, as far as I know.
 
good to know

would the disc based version of Terraria for the ps3 possibly be a more recent version?

e.g. if say a ultimate edition were to exist.
