As stated. Lately, when using the Drill Containment Unit, the game will often freeze randomly. The frequency has drastically increased with the last update, it seems.
Back in the day, it was extremely rare, and occasionally, the session would freeze and if I waited a bit and stared in agony whilst processing my life's decisions, the game would "bounce back" and I could continue. That no longer works.
Anymore, it's a gamble. New world, old world, doesn't matter. It's awful when I set-off on a spelunking mission and get caught up in excavation and forget to exit-save every so often and lose so much progress.
Like I said, it's happening frequently now. Its not a matter of if, but when.
I wish i could provide more helpful details. My position in the world makes no difference, the materials being mined don't seem to matter.
Just now, I was near the surface, in a new world, digging a horizontal tunnel and plowed through a clay deposit. I went to knock down a copper ore I missed and as soon as I went to change direction, freeze.
I remember confidently mining to the bottom of the desert and then digging horizontally across the bottom of the entire thing to stack up on sand and never really had issues. Nowadays, I'm paranoid that the game will freeze and I try to pace myself no matter what I'm collecting.
