Question for Pumpkin/frostmoons

I made my first arena and cleared out 168 blocks to each side, and when I started the the event none of the monsters move towards me.
My question is, how do I fix this and what am I doing wrong. Is it to high (I get tons of wyvens) or?

Yes, I believe Pumpkin and Frost Moon mobs cannot spawn in certain biomes, including Space and Ocean.

I might be completely wrong, though.

Since the 1.2.4.1 update, mobs don't spawn in lava, try removing some of the lava near you.

Oh so maybe a smaller pool underneath of it?

Yeah you should make the lava pools a good bit shorter, and to make up for it you can always use lots of spiky ball traps.
