I had a fun idea for a minigame in Terraria. Since there are so many mobility accessories/items, it would be fun if there was a way players could do races. Maybe there would be an NPC that would challenge you to race to specific places throughout the game like Koopa the Quick from Mario 64, (Race to the Ocean in early pre-hardmode, or race to Golem's altar post-Plantera) or you could set up your own goalposts to race against time or your friends.
Maybe some races would be mount specific? Race on horseback!
Or maybe having wall climbing gear would help?
Maybe as a reward for beating a race you get special equipment.
Even something as simple as a goalpost that starts a timer that's displayed onscreen would be huge for map makers and players could create a plethora of different race courses to challenge each other on.
