Casual Random Chitchat Thread

ooh
ive always been a huge fan of marvel
but it seems after the infinity saga ended disney saw their opportunity to turn it into a cashcow
i think Guardians 3 might be the last good marvel product in a long while

And still, why is that ratio specifically pi?
i think bcs its directly related to the actual circle
so u grab the radius of the circle and do some stuff with pie and u get the perimeter or area of it
its everywhere because its the one that works i think

But why is it specifically the number pi that is that?
Like why isn't it something like 7.93 or even just 3?
Why specifically pi?

And still, why is that ratio specifically pi?
So, where n is the number of sides of a regular polygon, and r is the length between the center of the polygon and a vertex of the polygon, or in a circle’s case, the radius, (n • sin(360/2n)) • 2r = perimeter and (n • sin(360/2n)) • r^2 = area. It just so happens that if n = infinity, n • sin(360/2n) = pi. This is where the circumference and area formulas come from. (At least that’s what I gather from some of my old math notes.)

The formulas make perfect sense when you look into the concepts behind them. They’re based off the fact that you can divide a regular polygon into twice as many right triangles as the number of sides they have.
