tModLoader [Released] CrazyDefense (WIP)

Hi there. First off, I wanna say, I think your mod's great. Too many people are obsessed with the idea of "balance" and don't get me wrong, balance is important, especially for the vanilla version, but it makes sense to have at least one mod that's crazy overpowered.

For the items, they were just random suggestions while I was already posting my praise for your mod.

Having said that, I guess a Regen Accessory is the one thing that would round up the set of God Armor, as despite the super high defense, it's still conceivable to be killed by enemies like the Dungeon Guardian, who could hit you a crazy number of times.

So, here are my more considered suggestions.

1) Heart of Ra: Health Regen +20
Recipe: 10 Stone @ Workbench

2) Eye of Horus: Mana Regen +75
Recipe: 10 Dirt @ Workbench

3) GOD Charm: Health Regen +25 & Mana Regen +80
Recipe: Heart of Ra + Eye of Horus @ Tinkerer's Workshop

Note: The GOD Charm's requirement of a Tinkerer's Workshop is slightly not in keeping with the easy mode of the other GOD items, but a full set of GOD Armor + Heart of Ra should make surviving the Dungeon Spirit do-able anyway. And I believe you've got super crafting stations planned anyway right? So it shouldn't be an issue to craft this early on.

Okay, between the GOD Armor and GOD Charm, you should be effectively immortal anyway yes? According to the wiki, Drowning does damage of 17.14 HP per second. I'm not sure what the Dungeon Guardian's DPS is. Lava and Meteor shouldn't be worst than Drowning...

Also, according to the wiki, Last Prism costs 72 Mana per second. Hence the rates listed above.

Alrighty, so the next suggestions are just for random fun.

4) Wrath of GOD: Thorns effect, 1000%
Recipe: 10 Dirt @ Workbench

Note: I actually have a character, using other mods, whereby he has high damage reduction + as much Thorns/Cross Necklace/etc type items as I could put on him. I don't directly attack with him, instead, I walk into enemies while wearing Solar Armor and exploding/Thorning them, then running off to heal if I take too much damage. It's an interesting way to play.

5) Flesh of GOD: Damage Reduction +80%
Recipe: 10 Dirt @ Workbench

6) Sandals of GOD: Dodge +80%
Recipe: 10 Dirt @ Workbench

Honestly, I'm more or less satisfied with your mod. I admit, I don't use it for every character. And I've already got some crazy powerful characters using other mods, that I use for exploration/experimentation/building purposes. But I think it's about high time that there's an OP mod for times when we all just wanna say, "$@#$# balance, I wanna run WILD!".

Oh, and GOD Fruit... I can understand if the coding for that might be too wonky, so it should probably be skipped? Like I said, these were just random ideas anyway.

Kudos once more on the mod.

Woot.

Edit: I tried out the GOD Charm with a fresh character. I had the fresh character use a Last Prism but it didn't seem to have any Mana Regen. I increased the character's Max Mana with some Mana Stars and fired off the Last Prism again, but again, doesn't seem to restore mana. So after that I had my character be damaged and Life Regen didn't seem to be working either.

Don't think I'd use a mod like this because I think it would ruin the charm of Terraria... but good luck with it nonetheless.
The only reason I would use it is to build maps, and just have fun in general, especially with the leveled mod, since damage scales as you go.

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using Terraria;
using Terraria.ID;
using Terraria.ModLoader;

namespace OPDefense.Items
{
public class GODFruit : ModItem
{
public override void SetDefaults()
{
item.name = "God Fruit";
item.width = 10;
item.height = 14;
item.toolTip = "Gives the User";
item.toolTip = "+100 HP.";
item.value = 10;
item.rare = 3;
}
public override void AddRecipes() //How to craft this item
{
ModRecipe recipe = new ModRecipe(mod);
recipe.AddIngredient(ItemID.Wood, 10); //you need 10 Wood
recipe.AddTile(TileID.WorkBenches); //at work bench
recipe.SetResult(this);
recipe.AddRecipe();
}
}
}

I don't have any experience modding Terraria, but my general coding knowledge tells me that you didn't actually give the item any effects, you just wrote what it should do in a tooltip.

EDIT: EDIT: Oops! I thought it was supposed to be an accessory.
I've studied the code for a few open source mods to try and figure out how it should work. Here is what I came up with:

To make the GODFruit useable, you have to add

item.consumable = true;

Within the SetDefaults method. If you don't actually want the item to be used up, you need to add
public override bool ConsumeItem(Player player)
{
return false;
}
Outside of any other functions.

To make it actually permanently add 100 life, I think you just have to put
public override bool UseItem(Player player)
{
player.statLifeMax2 += 100;
return true;
}

Though I'm not 100% sure that will work as intended.

So all put together I think it should look like this
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using Terraria;
using Terraria.ID;
using Terraria.ModLoader;

namespace OPDefense.Items
{
public class GODFruit : ModItem
{
public override void SetDefaults()
{
item.name = "God Fruit";
item.width = 10;
item.height = 14;
item.toolTip = "Gives the User";
item.toolTip = "+100 HP.";
item.useStyle = 4;
item.useTime = 30;
item.consumable = true;
item.value = 10;
item.rare = 3;
}
public override void AddRecipes() //How to craft this item
{
ModRecipe recipe = new ModRecipe(mod);
recipe.AddIngredient(ItemID.Wood, 10); //you need 10 Wood
recipe.AddTile(TileID.WorkBenches); //at work bench
recipe.SetResult(this);
recipe.AddRecipe();
}
public override bool UseItem(Player player)
{
player.statLifeMax2 += 100;
return true;
}
}
}

or for one that doesn't disappear

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using Terraria;
using Terraria.ID;
using Terraria.ModLoader;

namespace OPDefense.Items
{
public class GODFruit : ModItem
{
public override void SetDefaults()
{
item.name = "God Fruit";
item.width = 10;
item.height = 14;
item.toolTip = "Gives the User";
item.toolTip = "+100 HP.";
item.useStyle = 4;
item.useTime = 30;
item.consumable = true;
item.value = 10;
item.rare = 3;
}
public override void AddRecipes() //How to craft this item
{
ModRecipe recipe = new ModRecipe(mod);
recipe.AddIngredient(ItemID.Wood, 10); //you need 10 Wood
recipe.AddTile(TileID.WorkBenches); //at work bench
recipe.SetResult(this);
recipe.AddRecipe();
}
public override bool UseItem(Player player)
{
player.statLifeMax2 += 100;
return true;
}
public override bool ConsumeItem(Player player)
{
return false;
}
}
}

This mod sounds really fun!

One thing that you might want to add is a summon weapon.

My idea would be a GOD Staff that summons the moon lord himself to fight for you.

Interesting mod, though!

v1.6.0.1 Out Now On The In-Game Mod Browser
Quick Fix To GODFruit Now Does What It's Supposed To Do

(EDIT)
It Does Not CAP OUT At 500HP
The GODFruit Allows You To Go Past 500HP

(EDIT 2)
Can't Figure Out How To Make It Capped At 500 So I'm Just Going To Leave It

(EDIT 3)
Nevermind It Caps Out Anyway When You Exit The World
Also Let Me Know If Anything Else Isn't Doing What It Should
