Game Mechanics Slightly better hammering system - Face and Edge differentiation

So here are some minor issues one might have with the hammering system
  1. Cycling only has one direction
  2. Only a block's top face can be hammered downward
  3. Hammering faces and edges are both bound to the same function, making it take a little longer to get to a specific orientation
Proposal - Here is what I imagine a slightly better system to be. You take a hammer and, upon right click, you get an option for hammering faces only and another for hammering edges only. By selecting one of these options you can narrow down the orientation type you want and have fewer to cycle through. It doesn't solve the cycling in one direction problem but since you have less to cycle through, I guess it shouldn't matter too much.

Another perk of this system is that when it comes to faces, you can now hammer down any of the four faces instead of just the top one. This might be useful for people who want to create side indentations on any block without having to specifically use palladium (The only block that has a natural side indentation).

Hmm... your explanation is a bit confusing. Do you have a visual or something for how you want this to look?

One mode for slopes and one mode for slabs
Right click to switch between them

These suggestions has been made before but hey the more people that want it the better
