can't use smart cursor on steam deck when docked with keyboard and mouse

I'm having the same issue too. I press control on my keyboard and it makes a sound as if smart cursor was enabled, but it doesn't do anything.
I tried switching to desktop mode, tried disabling the Steam Deck's controller through the terminal, and I tried blocking gamepads through the config.json all with no luck.
My hypothesis is that the smart cursor used for the left stick takes higher priority over the one used in the mouse cursor, as the controller is always on when playing on Steam Deck.

Just checking, but have either of you tried changing between the "Toggle" and "Hold" options for Smart Cursor? Sometimes they've been accidentally changed and caused some confusion.

If this doesn't fix it, let me know, but I just wanted to check the most plausible causes.

for a second this got me all excited and i booted up the steam deck again because i remembered an option that set to "hold" but that was just hover controls.
Sad to say but the smart cursor was set to toggle and it still didn't work (setting it to hold didn't work either).
I'm pretty sure it's what Zanax7737 said, that's why i posted this in bug reports.
Appreciate the advice though!

Thank you for checking!

I haven't been able to test with a keyboard/docked set up, but I could NOT reproduce this on my Deck on its own, so it sounds like an input conflict for sure.

We've got a ticket made to look into it!

Just popping in to say I have the same issue with my docked Steam Deck. This occurs with kb+m, and as Zanax said, it makes a sound like its activated but doesn't do anything. It just mines like normal without smart cursor. I noticed this issue was in before the Labor of Love update, so this might be a bug that's been around for a bit.

Also wanted to say I have also been experiencing this on my deck ever since i got it and it is so frustrating so it would be so nice to have it fixed finally

ive had this issue for months now, the only way ive found to get smart cursor to work while playing k&m was to actually pick up the deck and use it as a controller.

Still having this issue. When will it be fixed?

It will be fixed when we find time for it, as we work through the various issues we have to fix. There is no specific timeline, but unfortunately, an issue that is exclusive ONLY to Steam Deck when in Docked mode and that has already been in game for some time is much lower priority than issues which impact all players. Needless to say, it is on our agenda, and will be fixed when we can.

Just popping in to clarify this is not just a docked problem but a steam deck problem in general, incase this changes anything.

I guess it hasn't been mentioned here yet, but even if you set a button on the Steam Deck itself to CTL or whatever you have the Smart Cursor key set to, it still just makes a click noise without doing anything.

Well this issue seems to have been fixed in one of the latest Terraria versions, thou it saddens me for i came looking for a solution in tmodloader :(, i guess i will have to wait until everything gets ported over.
