"Spiky Leather Jacket" is a Pre HM Accesory obtained by chopping Cactus with a 5% chance crafting with 20 Cactus + 3 Leather @ Loom

SLJ does damage to enemies when you get hit, the damage increases with your defense

SLJ DMG = Contact DMG Taken * (Defense + 1) * 0.5 or 0.75 or 1 (varies depending the difficulty as defense effectivity varies between difficulties) + 20 ≤ 200 (Maximum Damage)

If I am this this equation right it looks like

C*(D+1)/0.5 +20 =< 200

Is the division but 1/2 actually what you want? Cause that is the same as multiplying by 2. Which means for say a contact damage and defense of 10 the equation would look like 10(10+1)/0.5+20 this simplifies to 10(11)/0.5+20 which simplifies again to 110/0.5+20 which simplifies a final time to 220+20 = 240. This is already more than the 200 return damage limit you indicate so I think you definitely do not mean to divide by 0.5.

I was gonna say something about Leather not needing an use but... Oh geez! Literally only used for two pieces of a vanity set... and it's not even avaible in Crimson worlds! What the heck... I literally didn't even know it was this pointless. Relic of the past, I suppose.

The idea is very good, and the cactus and leather crafting is perfect, but there is one small problem, namely leather is currently almost exclusively a Corruption material, very difficult to obtain in Crimson.
The current recipe would require a rework of leather acquisition, so I will leave a link to the thread about it here in the hopes that both changes will be noticed and implemented.

Leather is a very strange item in Terraria. It is a crafting material used to craft the Archaeologist Jacket and Archaeologist Pants, but is itself only crafted from Rotten Chunks, so for some reason it is unavailable on pre-hardmode Crimson worlds. This is some weird artifact from early versions of the game and I propose a few ways to change it:

1. Ability to craft Leather from Vertebrae (yes, let's craft leather from bones, why not?).

2. Instead of using evil biome material, the Leather is crafted from Bunny at a 1:1 ratio (yes, it's a bit cruel, but that's basically how it works. Even...
