We all know that the Dungeon Guardians have protected the dungeon for long before we have arrived. However, the Lihzahrd temple hasn’t had a guardian… until now. Forged from the bricks of the temple itself, this guardian puts up quite a fight to unsespecting travelers

(EDIT) Added a version with outlines instead of a BG, since that looks a bit better against the forum BG 
My entry, the mask of lihzard sorrow (AKA Dither boyo). was really interesting to work with dithering instead to create the stone texture for this one. schedule kind of stopped me from animating it too >.<
Not sure if i'll be able to submit next week since im going on a cruise all week with no internet, so would be great if i could sprite in advance and get a prompt now, or just get a small extension maybe

Ok, here we are!
Do you ever wonder what that strange symbol on the Golem's chest is? (
<-Dis thing.) A long time ago, the Lihzards forged a mighty guardian known as a Solar Sentinel to defend the Temple from any intruders. Made of vast amounts of solar energy and bricks from the Temple itself, it destroyed anything and anyone that dared try to enter. Over time, however, it was no longer needed, as there were no more threats to the Temple. Now, however, after the player vandalized the Temple and killed the Golem, the Lihzards seek revenge once more, so with the dying Golem's core, they reawakened the Sentinel to prevent the player from ever entering again.
And, here it is, the Solar Sentinel!
(Also, this is my very first large enemy sprite I made all by myself that actually came out good, so there’s probably still a lot of shading and stuff that’s off, but that’s ok!)

The Lihzahrds have always been a proud warrior race, but sometimes your claws and traps aren't enough to keep unwanted visitors out of your home. Every hundred years, a grand tournament is held in the depths of the jungle. But this tournament isn't all fun and games. The champion is presented this ancient sword, the Blade of the Eternal Sun, the only one of its kind. Crafted by the most powerful Lihzahrd priests, the blade is said to harness the energy of the sun itself and can cut through even the strongest of armor like butter. The blade and its Champion have long protected the jungle, but should it fall into the wrong hands it could determine the fate of the entire world...

Long ago, the mechanic wasn't the only girl of sacrifice. Her sister, an alchemist, was also thrown into a dungeon, of the sun, that is. However, the lizhard curse was too much for her, and she began to decay into a green, scaley abomination. The lizhards recognized the problem, and to her terror, sealed her in a tomb of stone, keeping her alive with their solar energy. As time went on, she began losing her sanity, and when weaponized with an Eye of Helios, fell into a trance, only commanded by 'kill.' 'Stop' wasn't an option for her. However, once the power of the jungle flower had been destroyed, sanity slowly seeped back into her, leaving her crying tears of energized magma at what she had become. Now, she awaits any challenger who has the kindness, the daring to challenge her shackles, waiting for the day she shall be set free once again so she could reunite with her sister not as a machine of doom, but as a human girl.
