NPCs & Enemies [Sprites]Aether Wyrm

This a a collaboration between me and @Pinelord, he deserves a lot of the credit of concept creation. Also if there are sprites to be made I always go to him.

Summoning item - I'll figure this out later, all you need to know for now is that it is post golem.

This boss can only be summoned in the sky.

Aether Wyrm

index.php

Max Health: 20000

Defense: 40

Damage: 100

KB Resist: 100%

You cannot lower its health until the last crystal is taken off of the boss, which is to say phase 2 of the fight.

It will mostly try to stay above you, unlike most worm enemies it doesn't consistently move toward you. Occasionally it will coil up and dash toward you at high speed.

Defense: 40

Damage: 100

KB Resist: 100%

It will occasionally fire a blast from it's mouth that goes through blocks.

Crystal Health: 2000

Defense: 40

Damage: 80

KB Resist: 100%

Every 2-3 seconds a crystal will launch a bolt of lightning toward you. Considering that there are 15 body segments the beginning of the fight will be crazy.

Defense: 40

Damage: 80

KB Resist: 100%

The tail will constantly drop small ice crystals down toward the ground. You can destroy the ice crystals fairly easy, if one hits you it inflicts chilled.

Ice Crystal Health: 50

Ice Crystal Defense: 50

Ice Crystal Damage: 100

Ice Crystal KB Resist: 100%

index.php

In phase two it is much more agressive with its attacks, though it doesn't have as many. The damage of each segment is increased by 20.

With the absence of the crystals it won't be able to shoot lightning at you, don't let that make you think that it's helpless at a distance. It will release an ray from its mouth that reaches a very long distance and reaches through blocks. It's head doesn't move quickly during that so as long as you keep running you shouldn't get killed by it.

When it dies its loot is inside of a cloud box.

index.php

Damage: 140

Knockback: 4

Use Time: 15

When you strike an enemy a cloud will spiral around you. What it does is make you harder to hit. I'll explain more in depth in a moment, the numbers are up for debate as long as you provide a reason.

When you cause damage to an enemy you will get a stacking buff. For each stack of the buff you will get a .3% chance to avoid damage. You get one stack per 10 damage you do. The more stacks you have increases the decay rate of the stacks, otherwise you would be able to achieve invincibility. Switching to a different weapon causes the stacks to be cancelled.

At first when you summon one it doesn't seem too dangerous. It has a significant delay between attacks and the fact that it attacks from above makes its infinite piercing seem pointless and at times counter productive. Here's the thing though, if you summon a second one your cloud will grow bigger and more dangerous. By that I not only mean the increase of power but the chance for there to be more area that is struck.

Damage=39((Summoned Minions)^0.8)

Lightning Bolts=You get one extra for each 5 minions summoned.

When the lightning forks it forks into 2-3 bolts of lightning. It has a chance to fork every 3 tiles traveled. The chance increases with more summons of this minion.

It is a charged bow. Charging it increases the rate of fire significantly, though that isn't what makes this bow special. Arrows fired from this bow inflict a stacking debuff that reduces the knockback resistance of enemies for a short time. For each stack of the debuff their KB resist percentage is squared. Bosses wouldn't care at all due to 1.0 squared still being one, but with 3 stacks an enemy with 80% KB resist would only have about 40%. The stacks decay at a speed that makes it so you wouldn't be able to hit the enemy with a second shot before it ended. The debuff also has a 25% chance of being inflicted upon all enemies within 8 tiles of the point of impact.

Damage: 71

Knockback: 5

Use Time: 25

Velocity: 12

The full charge is 3 seconds, that allows a barrage of 6 arrows that fire as if the use time was 12.

It is an upgrade to the ice rod. It summons a cloud at the location you click, the cloud deploys similar to the ice rod until it reaches its final destination. Once it does it will spawn 10-14 more blocks centered around the original. This can be used to trap enemies. When it hits an enemy you see lightning going across the cloud itself as long as an enemy is in contact. Clouds disappear 3 seconds after shocking something but last 30 seconds normally.

Damage: 35

Knockback: 0

Use Time: 20

Velocity: 12

Mana cost: 12

Expert mode item by @CraftedNightmare Here!

Summons a wyrm that increases stats and flies

Stats:
Increases defense by 10
Critical strike chance and damage increased by 15-20%?

Also, when pressing the space bar (pussing W goes up and S goes down), the mount will shoot a beam that will deal 100-200 damage (cannot be stacked by damage-increasing content)

Flying time is extended

If you are liking for that awesome sprite please like the post by Pinelord below.

Any questions, concerns, or complaints?

Yeah, this is great! Looks difficult, but with beetle armor even the attacks won't do terribly much damage. Anyway, great sprites. :D

but, hurricanes and tsunamis kinda relate to each other (both having to do with water, natural disasters, and boss drops) and maybe there could be natural disaster events after you beat the bosses?

If you want yo make a thread about it feel free to. I'm busy with two biome expansions.

How easy are the crystals to kill, because 20,000 hp is quite weak for a post-golem boss, especially a worm.

Other then that, I like it.
The worm is constantly moving, each of the 15 2000 health crystals has to be broken even before the boss can take damage. Do you think it would need a buff?
