Skeletron Prime
I'd love to see this in game. That robe and hood they are wearing...is so FABULOUS.
You're entitled to your opinion of course, but isn't it more weird to have mechanical versions of bosses with no backstory or context whatsoever?I do not think this is a good idea for Terraria, seems like it would just get weird.
You still can with these, except that now you have something to base your headcanon on, instead of making things up with no evidence. Not really, I don't think Terraria needs a backstory. You can create your own.
That's an interesting idea, but it seems rather lack luster. It is a unique mechanic, but it averages out to 5 defense and would generally never really get used. I certainly wouldn't give up an accessory. I think that the % increase makes it unique, why also making it useful throughout the endgame and holding true to my original concept of a flat defense bonus. You may have some luck making a thread about that idea though.i don't like the idea much, but would like to say something about the skull accessory. maybe instead if % defense, it could and 10 defense in cycles - like the spinning attack of skelly prime increases defense, the accessory would give 10 defense for 5 secs every 20 seconds -shown by spikes coming out of your head (able to be turned off) and a buff
I greatly appreciate your feedback. I think it is too late in the suggestion to make such large scale changes, making there be 'Fleshy Engineers' building the bosses would be an interesting Crimson alternate. If you want, you are of course welcome to make your own thread about it. I don't have a monopoly on the idea or anything. Thanks again.I like the idea of these enemies. The loot and attacks are well thought-out and fit the respective enemies. However, I do not agree on the choice of using cultists as enemy. It just doesn't make sense to me because, for one, they can be fought before the cultist, which would make a mechanical version of a boss inferior to the real thing; and because cultists normally don't deal with mechanical stuff, but some kind of magic instead.
So instead of using cultists, I'd propose having engineers (even though it'd get rid of the sexy vanity which HNNG I JUST WANT IT) who can be encountered underground, preferably in larger caverns, and with a pretty low encounter rate (similar to biome mimics I'd say). Having these enemies be made from flesh and scattered throughout the caverns would primarily make this "mechanical boss construction plot" more solid, as you'll be able to fight the creators of the mechanical bosses (they even have the blueprints). The sprites could then also reflect their associated boss better, ditching the first appearance and fleshing out the second some more.
