I figured it out.hello, I label myself as a certified idiot and as such don't know how the support banners work. if someone could explain to me it would be much appreciated as I would love to show my support for this mod.
Should this be used with other big mods like calamity and thorium?
Starlight River is a content mod that focuses on fun, unique, and balanced content, as well as expansions on vanilla.
We want to enhance Terraria's gameplay loop of "kill boss, mine, farm enemies, make new weapon, kill next boss".
You can find a little bit of what we offer in the spoilers below. Missing sprites will be updated as they come in.
Please note: The mod will have content spanning the entirety of vanilla's progression, and a bit after that.
This is only a glimpse of what's yet to come!
Starlight Codex
The Starlight Codex is the main source of information in the mod.
Entries are unlocked as you discover, fight, or craft new content.
It's filled with pages for biomes, abilities, and any other important information.
It's main purpose is to guide new players in content that they would find hard to figure out on their own.
Obtained in the Desert, this unlocks a button in the inventory screen rather than an actual item.
Abilities
Abilities are the first of this mod’s main additions, using a resource called Stamina ().
They’re all obtained by finding the ability’s related item in-world, in a specific location (sometimes after a condition has been met).
Support for custom keybinds.
Forbidden Winds
A dash ability. Can be upgraded to deal damage and go further. Unlocked in the Vitreous Desert.
Faeflame
Transforms the player into a wisp and reduces their hitbox to 1x1 blocks.
This allows them to go through thin gaps and evade attacks.
Gaia’s Fist
Slams the player downwards onto the ground, releasing a shockwave that knocks back enemies.
Can be upgraded to make damaging chunks of earth release on impact, and to increase its strength.
Unlocked on Golem kill.
Corona of Purity
Projects a purifying aura around the player, transforming certain blocks into their pure counterparts.
This is the only way to obtain Ivory ore (by purifying Ebony).
Blocks return to their normal state when the aura shrinks.
???
*spooky*Rift Crafting
Rift Crafting is a WIP method to craft items that can't be crafted at any normal crafting station.
It's a bit complex, which is why it needs it's own section here.
Here's how it works:
The player throws in the items in the recipe and then finalizes it with a Catalyst to begin the crafting process.
There are several tiers, requiring different Catalysts to kickstart the reaction.
Once it begins, shadowy enemies begin to spawn around the rift where it's taking place.
Killing them drops colored motes, which must be deposited into their corresponding colored pylon.
When the pylons are charged the process ends and the crafted item drops.
Higher tiers have stronger enemies, with minibosses in the highest.
Dying or moving away from the rift while it's crafting will end the process and destroy some of the items used.
Recipes for Rift Crafting can be found in the Starlight Codex along with difficulty and time.Hell
Hell will receive a much-needed upgrade to make the biome feel more dangerous and more fun to play in.
Additions include:
Bone Mines
Bone Mines spawn in lava pools in Hell, exploding when players get too close.
Revenant Set
Set Bonus: Attacks have a chance to Mark enemies.
Marked enemies take more damage and explode on death, spreading the Mark.
Obtained in Hell in Hardmode
Revenant's Six Shooter
Fires off six rounds before having to reload.
Each round pierces enemies and explodes on each target.
The casings dropped by reloading explode too.
Revenant Relic
Conjures several bolts of flame and shoots them at your cursor.
These bolts set enemies they pass on fire.
Hit enemies become covered in magma, taking heavy damage and
dealing damage to other nearby enemies in an AOE.Vitric Desert
A biome that generates underneath the Underground Desert, host to massive crystal formations and dunes of glassy sand.
This biome’s set is thematically focused on fragmentation.
The player must kill a miniboss to access the Vitric Temple, which houses the Forbidden Winds ability behind some puzzles.
Escaping this temple with the ability allows the player to activate the boss' spawning altar, allowing them to spawn it.
Boss
Ceiros
Shattered Sentinel
This boss fight is somewhat complicated, requiring mastery of the Forbidden Winds ability to easily complete.
Many of the boss fight's mechanics rely on breaking crystals that the boss summons to support it.
Enemies
Crystal Slime
Spawns with an invincible shield. Dash into it to break the shield.
Sandbat
Lurks in the sand until an unfortunate soul encounters it.
Lunges into the air, spraying crystal shards everywhere.
Items
Vitric Blade
Shatters on impact into enchanted glass shards which return to the player.
Unable to attack while the blade is shattered.
Vitric Bow
Shoots two smaller mirrored versions of your arrow. Vitric Arrows fragment on impact.
Vitric Staff
Shoots clumps of crystals which latch onto enemies, increasing damage of consecutive crystals.
Vitreous Armor
Starts at very high defense, lowering as health goes down.
Releases up to 4 orbiting and damaging crystal shards as the player’s hp decreases.
Multi-class.Overgrowth
The Overgrowth is a subsection of the Dungeon, only accessible with the Faeflame ability.
It’s home to an array of mazes that require the aforementioned ability to complete.
It also contains a wealth of rewards (that is, if you can manage to defeat what's guarding them).
Boss
(wip sprite)
(name undecided)
The boss for the Overgrowth is a fight that requires mastery over the Forbidden Winds and Faeflame abilities.
The fight requires fast reaction time to evade the boss' choreographed attacks, with three phases of the fight.
This boss uses a large flail and magical lightning to attempt to kill the player.
Enemies
(unsprited)
(name undecided)
Conjures three rocks which orbit it and get launched at the player in sequence when all three are fully formed.
(name undecided)
Stays hidden as an inconspicuous rock until a player comes close.
Scampers around and lunges at the player to attack.
(unsprited)
(name undecided)
Throws bones out of a bag at the player, and if the bone is a skull it pops up into a low health baby skeleton.
(unsprited)
(name undecided)
A large animated pile of leaves, floating around and using its foliage to slice at the player while exposing its core.
Executioner Skeleton
Carries a massive axe that it swings at the player.
The axe gets stuck in the ground with every swing,
and the player must dash into it during this period to stun it and open it up to damage.
Items
(name undecided)
A massive flail that the player lifts above them and throws, knocking back enemies around it on impact.
(name undecided)
Shoots arrows which leave behind a trail of razor sharp leaves which slowly drift downward.
Overgrowth Armor
Mage set bonus:
Damaging enemies builds up an orbiting ring of razor sharp leaves.
Taking damage releases them as homing projectiles to nearby enemies.
Ranger set bonus:
Dealing damage allows you to hover.
Increased ranged damage while in midair.Jungle
The jungle now has Corrupt, Crimson, and Hallow variants, each with their own unique enemies, loot, music, and Plantera variant.
Along with that, the jungle can grow large versions of existing herbs.
(gifs coming soon)
Hallow, Corrupt, and Crimson Storms
Consecrated clouds sweep the landscape...
A swarm of Corruption blots out the sun...
A Crimson membrane darkens the sky...
Spawns enemies from the event's respective biome as well as some exclusive storm-only enemies.
After killing enough enemies, a miniboss spawns. If it dies or a long period of time passes, the invasion ends.Cursed and Blessed items are a unique new way to implement powerful accessories.
Cursed items have great buffs, with a big drawback as well.
They are also unable to be taken off once equipped without the help of the Hexmaster NPC, who will remove and destroy a cursed item for a hefty price.
Blessed items have very useful buffs and can be freely unequipped, but break when a certain condition is not met.
They can not be repaired.Herbology
Herbology is one of the main ways to obtain more complex potions in this mod,
with certain plants requiring special fertilizer or growing conditions.
Some food items can also be grown.
Here's some of the options we offer and potions you can craft:
Greenhouse Glass
Increases the growth speed of plants.
Planter
Speeds up growth speed and allows players to hang it in the air.
Required for certain plants.
Fertile Soil
Speeds up growth speed.
Required for certain plants.
Vitric Bottle
Required to bottle the majority of potions in this mod.
Made from Glassy Sand found in the Vitreous Desert biome.
Cooking
Starfall Cocktail
Increases the rate at which stars fall for the night.
Ferrofluid Draft
Causes items to gravitate to the player in a large radius.
Stamina Dreg
Increases max Stamina by 1, 60s cooldown.
Distilled Time
Massively increases tickrate of nearby blocks.
This can cause plants to grow faster and other tiles that take time to do things to just... be faster!
Featuring a completely modular cooking system with tons of foods with their own unique effects.
Combine different foods to mix and match effects and other useful buffs.
Prep Station
Used to prepare all foods in the mod.
Hexmaster
Mentioned above, the Hexmaster removes and destroys cursed items for a large price.
Voidsmith
Upgrades town NPCs (including modded!) by increasing their health or providing new ways for them to defend themselves.
Intended to make sure your NPCs don't get one shot by a Destroyer hitting a little too close to “home”.
Estimated Release: Q4 2020
Public testing will happen before our main release.
Keep that in mind if it may seem far away!
Lack of screenshots will be slowly fixed as we finish up spritework.
Everything here is subject to change.

Amazing rendition of the Overgrowth armor, by Xelo
Another awesome take on a very different version of the Overgrowth armor, by Monsterbot
Isn't Calamity moving that biome to a different location though? (Also the devs have said multiple times they are going to make them compatible)propably not. Calamity adds a biome under the underground desert, at the same place where the Vitric desert would be.
I don't know about thorium though.
Generally speaking, large content mods don't go well together because of balancing issuesShould this be used with other big mods like calamity and thorium?
I think Starlight River will be one of the big "Next Gen" Terraria modsThis mod looks like it could easily be the next calamity or thorium.
If you said that in their discord you would be bannedI think Starlight River will be one of the big "Next Gen" Terraria mods
I wasn't trying to say it was going to 1up them, just that I think it will be good enough to be considered one of the bigger modsIf you said that in their discord you would be banned
yeah general idea is it's a game changing mod on alot of fields, but the mod owners aren't concerned with trying to 1up the other campaigns of Terraria mods, they want to do what THOSE mods do long ago: to up the standards overall and take everything, to the next level.
work without blinding prideI wasn't trying to say it was going to 1up them, just that I think it will be good enough to be considered one of the bigger mods
i cannot stress this enough: we really aren't aiming that highIf you said that in their discord you would be banned

I'll make sure not to do so theni cannot stress this enough: we really aren't aiming that high
the only thing we want is to make something fun, its a bit stressful when people say stuff like this
