If switch terraria isn't gunna get split screen i’d like to know straight up instead of wasting my time hoping it will show up, at least let us know if you made any progress or if you even decided to work on it

They are working on it, and in the most recent state of the game they stated it's getting the highest priority out of any feature right now.

There is lots of information from @Loki in the recent SoTG threads - Split Screen is still very much a priority but it will not be released until performance in splitscreen mode is acceptable.
