IC Striker Six - Fighting a War in The Great Unknown (IC)

Incendiary

Skeletron Prime
Centuries of warfare have ravaged your home. The land is permanently scarred by conflict, your people are dying every second, resources are running dangerously low. It's only a matter of time before Arkanimus succumbs to its battle wounds, an unacceptable outcome. A warrior such as yourself would never allow this to happen. You have proven yourself time and time again to be formidable, dependable and admiral. A perfect fit for Striker Six.
Halt! Arkanimus is in need of extraordinary fighters. If you're not already a part of Striker Six, sign up now!

Now, I know I already posted these on the OOC topic, but now I'll explain the specific powers of each Aspect. These are, of course, not the full extent of their powers, not even close. However, they'll give you a rough idea of what they can do.

Solar:
The forces of heat, fire and the stars. Those who align with Solar are resilient and diligent, well suited to the turmoil of battle. They have a serious mindset, directing all their focus to their most important tasks. They stand for righteousness, glory and freedom. Some consider them to be stubborn or aggressive, forcing everything else aside to achieve their goals, but nobody can deny that they get the job done right. With strength and resolve, Solar can bring the big guns to any fight.
Powers include:

  • Manipulation of fire, plasma and heat. You can create, control and destroy them at will.
  • Manipulation of fusion and fission. Like a nuclear reactor in the palm of your hands.
  • Manipulation of the stars. Wield the sun's energy, and unleash it.
  • Some control over hot metal and rock. You can mold it, fuse it, compress it, even eat it.
  • Immunity to extreme heat, resistance to cold temperatures.

Arc:
The forces of energy, electricity and storms. Those who align with Arc are energetic and quick-thinking. They specialise in raw speed, and often follow the motto of Accuracy by Volume. They tend to be jokesters, less serious but still dedicated, going with the flow and adapting to any situation. While they often lack strategy and teamwork, some would argue Arc aligned fighters don’t need it. The unpredictable nature makes Arc a formidable aspect.
Powers include:

  • Manipulation of electricity. Bend it, concentrate it, shoot it like a really big taser.
  • Manipulation of weather. Taking "Make it rain" much more seriously.
  • Manipulation of energy. Give things a little more ooomph.
  • Manipulation of speed. As my favourite Fortnite character Superman once said, gotta go fast. (I am so getting federal agents outside my house after posting that)

Void:
The mysterious forces of darkness, the shadows, and the abyss. Those who align with Void are often enigmatic, and highly secretive. Void powers were considered heresy for centuries, until war broke out, when these abilities were highly sought after. The full capability of Void is yet to be realised, as is the potential of Void aligned fighters. One thing’s for sure: Void fighters are resourceful and determined. They understand their own strengths, and will use every advantage they have. From the shadows, they strike. Darkness is their friend.
Powers include:

  • Manipulation of gravity. You can create gravitational pull, or push things away.
  • Manipulation of shadows and darkness, allowing you to bend or even block light.
  • Manipulation of void spaces and distance, allowing you to erase or expand space.
  • Creation of void pockets, temporary micro-dimensions that can hold mass.
  • Creation of short-distance portals. They're exactly what they sound like.
  • Immune to extreme gravitational pull (or similar forces) that would result in injury or death.

Stasis:
The forces of the Freeze, stopping the flow, the reduction of entropy. Often associated with ice, Stasis aligned fighters are cold and focused. Known to be strategic and sharp, they can turn any tough situation around with the right methods. Standing for the success of their team, they use their powers to give their allies an edge. They still shine when solo, however, and will find every advantage possible. It isn’t uncommon for them to come across as pessimistic or depressing, and their personalities can be quite unlikeable. Regardless, they will stop their enemies dead in their tracks, no matter the cost.
Powers include:

  • Manipulation of ice and the cold.
  • Ability to slow things down or freeze things in place.
  • Ability to control "Stasis" fields, which can manipulate the passage of space and time.
  • Immunity to extreme cold, resistant to heat.

Strand:
An old term for the “strands” or threads of life itself, both plant and animal. The forces of living, breathing nature, those who align with Strand are multifaceted. Some see them as confusing, or argue that they lack direction, but their versatility is their greatest power. By manipulating life energy and living things, they can manifest a strong defence, a heavy offence or a strategic support. While best known for their healing abilities, those who align with Strand are more than just medics. They’re best suited to assisting their team, but can easily adapt to any combat role. Wielding the power of living nature, Strand aligned fighters make for excellent team players.
Powers include:

  • Manipulation of life energy. This is difficult to control, but very valuable.
  • Manipulation of plants. You can be like that one nature-obsessed person in every franchise ever.
  • Manipulation of living creatures. Why yes, I like animals.
  • Manipulation of souls and spirits. Also very hard to control, but there's potential with it.
  • Manipulation of natural cycles. You can literally just ignore the rules of nature.
  • Immune to life-steal, heavily resistant to life-draining attacks, resistant to disease and spiritual attacks.

Lithos:
The forces of planets, the earth and natural materials. Those who strongly align with Lithos are damn near invincible, both in body and mind. With raw durability at their fingertips, they hold the power to collapse and crush any opposition by manipulating the ground at will. Their fighting spirit never falters, no matter what happens. They can plough through a defensive line, or build their own and hold back an enemy with ease. Lithos fighters are often seen as selfish or lacking in wits, diving head-first into battle with no sense of tactics or teamwork. This can lead to feeling disconnected from their allies, negatively impacting their combat. In spite of this, with the right support from their team, any Lithos fighter can bring immense brute force and fear to the battlefield.
Powers include:

  • Manipulation of natural materials such as rock, metals and minerals.
  • Manipulation of force.
  • Manipulation of mass and density.
  • Manipulation of air and atmosphere.
  • Immune to being crushed, suffocated or asphyxiated.

The glorious cast of Striker Six
Living Characters:

Wha, the Void-Aspected Sneaky Boi
Alvak Megalith, codename "The Reaper", or "Messorem", literally just Scorch from Titanfall (mmm my favourite).
Claira, the Cat-Girl Part-Satori Strand Medic or smth.
Mizzium, the Firebird. Hey, wait, aren't they a dragon?
Vikori/Timor, definitely does not have schizophrenia and will do exactly as I say.
Eletkos, the Arc-Aspected Part-Oni and the only chill person in the whole establishment.

The chamber you reside in is bland, uninspiring and slightly cold. The sterile white plaster walls leave little to the imagination, and the only noteworthy decoration are the folding chairs you are currently sitting on. Except maybe Messorem.

You wait patiently for Commander Braccus Torr to finally reveal himself. The Legion of Black's finest warrior, he's lived through many years of fiery turmoil and came out with little more than battle scars and a fancy new weapon. Soldiers all over the front see him as a beacon of raw power, and most would give everything just to be recognized by such an icon. You'd only been contacted by his subordinates and talked briefly over Holo-Tech, so meeting in person would have anyone on edge.

As for the people around you, they weren't complete strangers. You'd been through dozens of training exercises together, and gotten to know your fellow fighters. Only fools would throw together a bunch of random soldiers and send them on a collision course with Doom unprepared. This, however, would be your first real conflict as part of Striker Six. Perhaps a little chit-chat would break the monotony.

Wha looks like he's actually enjoying the silence.

Vikori seems to be a lot more interested in his robes than anyone else, given how much he's trying to smooth it out.

"...Ennui consumes me; I am but naught in the presence of this eternal darkness."

Mizzium is sitting stiffly, like a suit of armor on display, gripping his mace in both hands. His visor is down.

Leaning against the back of her chair and bouncing her legs, Claira seems to be reading some sort of small tome. Her eyes are squinted through her thick glasses, scrutinizing the text intently as she hums some sort of somber tune, her high-pitched voice probably pretty distracting to anyone else nearby.

Messorem is standing in the back of the room, perfectly still, shotgun slung against the side of his back-armor. He slowly turns his head to Claira, a small whirring and a click as it stops, his various optical sensors adjusting slightly.

Chhhkkk- Silence would be- chhshhh- requested.”

His voice sounds as if it is coming through an old radio, faded, garbled, and inhumanly deep.

Needless to say, Claira puts the tome away, sitting up straight now.

(Wha is supposed to be the quiet one lol, but he's spoken more than anyone else in the room.)

(It's because not everyone has posted yet.)

Sitting down eagerly is Eletkos, his face being unclear and impossible to see due to the helmet and glass, his hands resting on his lap. He turns to look at his fellow soldiers and starts to speak light-heartedly.

``Yo, glad to see how far we all come, thrilling how we all become the people we are, ey?``

“csch- People?”

Claira just gives him a glare and sighs.

“I, for one, am glad to be here with all of you. I know we have all come from different pasts and will go to different places, but I would be curious to hear a little about the pasts of you all if you wouldn’t mind.. just curious about the people I’ll be working a lot with is all.. ehe..”

“.. I can go first if you’d like.”

She looks around, looking for volunteers.

Wha lowers his head sightly, adjusting his hood to make sure it covers any gaps through which people might see around the mask that covers his face.
“csch- People?”

Wha remains silent.

"I'd r-rather not-"
"Oh, c'mon, tell them how good it felt when you finally let go!"
"Of course I wouldn't! T-that'd be wrong!"

...It becomes apparent why people and Vikori don't mix.
[OOC note: using small text to convey that it's only Vikori hearing it.]

Mizzium is unsure how to interpret what he just heard, so he gives up trying. Actually, he gave up trying to understand this guy a while ago.

``Go wild, ma'am. Tell us alot, we insist.`` Eletkos responds, awaiting for her to start.

Although he turns a look of uncertainty (although no one would notice it) at Vikori, somewhat puzzled at what appears to be someone talking to himself.

“Why did the Commander pick a tsschh- schizophrenic, of all people..”

“Aren’t you one to-..”

“That’s fine!”

Claira gives a little grin, looking to Mizzium before-

``Go wild, ma'am. Tell us alot, we insist.`` Eletkos responds, awaiting for her to start.

“Oh, if you insist..”

She clears her throat.

“Well.. I grew up somewhere peaceful.. I was royalty actually, believe it or not. It was nice.. and nice things don’t last. Our settlement was attacked, and my family and fellow kin managed to escape mostly unscathed, except for me. Thankfully the man-… whose name I will not repeat.. who found me was kind and fatherly.. I grew up with the army who pillaged my town.. mostly for resources.”

She starts blinking rapidly, shaking her head with a little sigh before continuing, her eyes now glistening.

“Some faction.. I am still unsure as to who, attacked overnight. They killed everyone but me and a few others.. I tried to heal as many as I could, but the strain put me out for a long time. When I woke up, they were all dead.”

“.. so far, I’ve yet to even find a trace of the people who did this, so they’ve got to be out there.. right?”

She looks around, a bit frantic almost before realizing she looks manic, giving a little chuckle.

“You could say I’m a bit obsessed with this..”

Messorem has remained entirely still during this whole thing, watching with ever-shifting oculi.

"Hear how they mock you. Show them you are to be feared. Fear breeds respect, and they'll give you the treatment they deserve."
"I'm n-not hurting them, okay?! We're all in this to-... together."

Wha walks over to Vikori and puts his hand on Vikori's shoulder.
"Sometimes the truth is the hardest lie to see through. When you can't put your faith in the truth, all you have left is yourself."

Vikori freaks out from the contact.

Mizzium finds this whole situation very awkward. Though no one can see it, his face is mildly horrified.
