Game Mechanics Suggestion about banners, bestiary and damage/protection bonuses

I want to suggest to redo system of bonuses which is currently represented by banners.

As we all know, currently we got banner every 50 monsters killed in world and we get pretty huge bonuses to damage to this monsters and to protection against their damage. But as in some situations players would need only few banners (for example, against zombies - one usually kills them in the beginning of the game near base and even on master they could be big threat only in said beginning), there are many enemies, which area of living are pretty huge - cavern monsters, for example.

So i suggest to take part of banner bonuses and give them to characters in next way:

1) Reduce banner bonuses by third or half.
2) Add monster kill counter directly on player in addition to world kill counter, but one would only increase if player would kill it with his weapons/summons - bestiary would be perfect to track it.
3) Add "knowledge" of monsters, which would be gradualy increasing bonuses against said monsters (damage and protection), which would eventually cap at said third or half of banner bonuses.

For example, player kills 100 monsters, gaining 2 banners (with bonuses lowered as said in p.1). At every 50th monster killed, player also get 5 or 10% of new (reduced) banner bonus on character permanently up until cap, so after said 100 monsters character bonus against said monsters would be 5%*new_reduced_banner_bonus, and with placed banner it would be 105%*new_reduced_banner_bonus.
At some moment player would reach level, when with placed banner he would do same amount of bonus damage and get same amount of bonus protection, as with current placed banner, but players would actually get something from killing monsters on their own, when they travel around the world. It would also make people progress more smoothly.

Tl;dr - add monster counter to characters (trackable in bestiary) of monsters, killed directly by player with weapons or summons; move up to half part of banner bonus to said counter, while, obviously, taking said part of bonus from banners.
