Hello... you know I was going to put in a joke about how long I've been part of the Terraria Community but I'm going to be honest I've been with the Terraria Community
since the Xbox 360 and it's amazing how far Terraria has come. There was a point where I wasn't playing Terraria, it started once the Xbox One was released, and it stopped on September 30th 2022, that's the date when I bought the game on steam and first played Terraria in years. Now that you know me a bit, I want to talk about two changes
I want to see in Terraria! Also this is very long, sorry...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- First, One of the changes that I want to see is to an item that almost nobody uses due to most likely, the end game Pickaxes/Drills and the Celebration Mk2, but also due to the high cost of the tool. It's the one and only Drill Containment Unit! One of the many items in the game that probably holds the title of barley being used by the player base, it has the most unique qualities for a building tool, and that quality is it being a mount, and an infinite flying mount at that. But as I said one of the problems of the item is it's huge cost to make,
and here it is!
As you can see 40 bars from (most) corners of the game, but what's the problem? 120 BARS OF CHLOROPHYTE IS NEEDED FOR THIS ITEM. An insane amount of Chlorophyte for one item, for some people this may not seen like a lot, but for people like me it feels like a lot. Now how much ore does recipe this need? It takes 5 ore per bar so that means it takes.
600 pieces of Chlorophyte ore, which is WAY more then one person should ever collect. (probably) I don't know how fast Chlorophyte ore spreads but it's probably not very fast unless you sleep for a couple in game weeks. So in my opinion some of the Chlorophyte Bar amounts should be changed in the recipe, and i'll say what the new recipe could be and why the recipe should be changed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
40 Luminite Bars - These are fine at 40, it's not the worst to get Luminite.
20 Chlorophyte Bars - And here is where my changes start, it's simple, remove 20 from all the Chlorophyte dependent items and give them to the other items!
20 Shroomite Bars - Just like the Chlorophyte Bars remove 20 from the Shroomite Bars and give the 20 to other items in the recipe
20 Spectre Bars - The exact Same Thing as the last two.
60 Hellstone Bars - And here is where the other changes start, basically I gave the early game bars the rest of the removed Chlorophyte bars from the other items in the recipe,
Hellstone got 20 bars because at the point you'll make this recipe you'll most likely have some sort of lava resistance or have a lot of Hellstone ore/bars.
80 Meteorite Bars - Hellstone got 20 bars, so that so that means Meteorite gets 40 bars. This is due to Meteorites usually giving loads of Meteorite ore. And also fighting the
Evil Biome bosses aren't hard at the state of the game you'll be crafting the DCU.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now those are the changes I think are good changes for the DCU, cutting the Chlorophyte requirement in half and giving the bars that where taken away from the Chlorophyte to
the easier to get Bars. Meteorite is easy to get, the only requirement is to beat an Evil World Biome boss and a Meteorite will eventually fall to the world, both bosses are very easy. Hellstone is a bit more of a pain to get, requiring you to go to Hell/The Underworld and then usually mine for Hellstone in the lava (hopefully with some sort of lava resistance) and hope that no Imps or Bone Serpents try and attack you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now with that behemoth of a change idea out of the way it's time for a smaller change!
- Second, The smaller one and my pick for a change that should have been in the game earlier, it's for the mod menu (The menu that allows you to enable and disable mods) it's simple.
Drag and Drop. Dragging and Dropping mods would help a ton for people with hundreds of mods enabled, or so it's easier to give mods you want a higher priority then others quicker
then clicking the same button over and over and over again. Also I think the default text should be like this mod (Resourcepacks Menu Guide) and not "Move Backward" and "Move Frontwards" but if they wouldn't want to do that, just change the text to something like "Move Up" and "Move Down" as Backward and Frontwards are kind of confusing words for moving mods up and down.
Also one more small change to the mod menu is to make the mods smaller so more mods can fit on screen, currently 4-5 mods can fit in the disabled and enabled mod screens, keep the menu the same size but change the mods size so you can fit at least 7-8 mods on both screens.
(For slight demonstration, here is something I quickly drew to demonstrate what it could look like)
(Wow i didn't think the image was that big what the-)
Once again sorry if it looks bad I whipped it up very quickly, kinda. But to make this long suggestion have a somewhat short ending, thanks to anyone who even read my long ramblings for some sort of Terraria suggestion that will hopefully make it's way into the game, although they most likely wont due to 1.5 feeling like it's very close to completion. If I where to say which change I would want more in the game... I'd say the Drag and Drop change as it'll help sort mods quicker and easier. The DCU change, although making it easier to craft, won't really help anyone due to (As said at the beginning) the end game Pickaxes/Drills and the Celebration Mk2. Once again, thank you for reading this and I hope you all have a great day~

oh no, there are some mistakes in how I wrote this, sorry i'll fix that up right away. This is my first post on the Terraria Forums so i'm just getting used to how to do things sorry once again.
*Edit: Alright I fixed it up! It was just some formatting mistakes and a couple of spelling errors.

Why do we need 40 Luminite bars to be able to obtain this tool? Would it really be that overpowered if we could obtain this before Moon Lord?

I don't think the DCU needs a tweak like that. It's really pricey, sure, but it's also an extremely powerful building tool that you only get if you're really persistent. I think it's fine the way it is.
