Tool Terra AWG - Alternative worldgen for vanilla

This is such a cool world generator, wow. The map room is awesome! Reminds me of Noita a bit lol

My only critiques are that the Corruption and Jungle vines feel kinda off, and there's a lot of space underground that's just completely solid.
The solid space having isolated caves could be interesting. This mod already generates clean passages a lot so having isolated caves would really help with making it feel more varied in my opinion.

the vine islands are fire, a mod that made the entire world connected islands would be cool

I hear you about the solid ground. It is intentional (encourage the player to follow caves, instead of just digging straight lines, at least until they have a better pick), but I think I went a bit too far on that. During play testing, this made plantera bulbs extremely rare (until I built a farm). Will see what I can do about that.

Surface caves are mostly unchanged. However, new isolated caves increase in frequency and size at deeper locations.

Keep the hits coming! The torch god arena looks really cool, and I love the giant gems on the walls of the grove!
Will there be anything specific to secret seeds?

Nothing for secret seeds just yet. However, after 1.0 (nearly there! If there are no major issues, that should be the next one), I plan to try creating some of those.

ooo that ocean looks really cool from the map it looks like it has proper caves compared to the single 25% chance tunnel in vanilla

Oh wow, 1.0 already? I'm going to start a playthrough with this then :)

Released v1.1.0. Highlights:
  • Biome patches distribution option
  • Both world evils option
  • Optional starter equipment
  • Placement frequency settings for ore, life crystals, mana crystals, pots, chests, clouds, and minecart tracks
Lots of settings here. Do note that pushing any setting too far from default can result in an unbalanced world, potentially preventing certain features from generating, if there is no space for them, or in extreme cases, failing to generate a world. Be aware biome patches removes a lot of placement guarantees.

In continuing working on integrating secret seeds (drunk world completed above with the both evils option, I forgot to mention), I am looking for input on what parts of the other seeds do people enjoy? Specifically the seeds that make things harder (not the bees, for the worthy, no traps, get fixed boi), I have not finished playthroughs on these seeds since I just was not having fun. So, I am uncertain what features to adapt.

For people who do enjoy those secret seeds (and I suppose any other secret seeds, if you have more ideas), what do you like about them? What would you like to see from a Terra AWG adaption of them?

For FTW make the dungeon map purposefully have a chance to be a bit wrong

Were you thinking shuffle some of the tiles, or make holes that are completely missing tiles?

how do I enable the worldgen the mod adds? I probably didn't try hard enough since I only tried to mod out for a few minutes but I generated a world without any of the settings enabled and it looked like a normal Terraria world.

Usage:
  • Download the zip file for your OS of the latest release (assuming Windows, that would currently be terra-awg-1.2.0-mingw-w64-ucrt-static.zip)
  • Extract the zip
  • There should be two files, edit terra-awg.ini (it is plain text) with any desired settings (leaving as defaults is fine, though you may want to at least change the world name)
  • Run terra-awg(the other file) either by double clicking on it or (if you want to see the messages) executing it from command prompt/powershell/terminal
    • This is a command line program, so it will only show a box with some text messages describing what it is currently doing
  • After a couple seconds (depending on your computer speed of course) new files should appear next to the above two mentioned files. Assuming you used all default settings, they should be:
    • Terra_AWG_World.wld - Your new world file
    • Terra_AWG_World-map.png - Image preview of the map
  • Copy the *.wld into your saves folder (assuming Windows, that is <your-user>\Documents\My Games\Terraria\Worlds)
  • Launch Terraria
  • On the screen to choose what world to load, you should now have Terra AWG World (or whatever you named it) as an option, this is the new world you just generated

I might see about trying to make a world with this tool to play on my Steam Deck, to make that device's main run more unique!

Were you thinking shuffle some of the tiles, or make holes that are completely missing tiles?
Shuffle. Even if it's perfectly normal tiles, they can still swap.

Anyway new update is very cool

oooo this looks really neat! Once I finish my current Steam Deck run (Which is currently paused because I need a resource pack that doesn't exist yet, and I'm waiting on someone else to make it due to me already having a lot of projects going on) I might do a Shattered + Patches + Sunken combo as my next run!
