Tyrant of Trees

Hey all! This was my ideas for a PVP version of Terraria, now granted this is a lot to drop on, but I just wanted to share this idea with the community and get a feel of what they thought.

Basics: There are two teams that are pitted against each other, to win, each team must gather resources, upgrade their armies, and defend their fortress. The end goal of the game is to destroy the enemy teams Eternia Crystal to take victory.

Here is what I have so far (sorry if it is a bit messy this is like the beta of my post, in the future I will have this munch more organized and complete).

Base info:

Players: 40(20v20)
Goal: Destroy the other team’s Eternia Crystal

Map details!
• Map Bases are symmetrical except for certain things like team color and banners.
• Overall center map is different but not to the point where one team has advantage.
• The map format is: Team1 Base, Team1 Forest, Center Biome, Team2 Forest, Team2 Base.
• The center biome randomly switches between certain biomes such as Desert, Snow, Mega Forest, etc. at the start of the game.
• Players get creative shock inside bases and zones that are not mean to be destroyed
• The center biome and forest zones mostly cannot be destroyed

Base Details!
• Major Areas:
• Team Graveyard: Whenever a teammate dies they will respawn here
• Team Eternia Crystal Chamber: This is where your teams Eternia Crystal is, it is heavily guarded by the Crystal Guardian
• Team Storage Room: This is where your teams public and private storage vaults are
• Defender Tower: This is the Tower that stands outside past the courtyard, it has manually controlled cannons as well as automatic Ballistas that will shoot down enemy players. Inside the tower is the Tower Crystal if this crystal is destroyed the ballistas will be destroyed as well as some portions of the tower exploding off. The tower has an entrance that has an electrical shield that damages all enemies that go inside it. The shield can be deactivated after you kill the Militia Captain.
• Team Mine: This is where you and your team will venture for metals for things like items, armor, weapons, etc
• Team Forest: This is where you will find your teams supply of wood and other various forestry items



Team NPCs
Crystal Guardian: This golem is the strongest entity on the map residing in there crystal chamber. Once killed the Eternia Crystal is killable.

Militia Captain: The Militia Captain guards the entrance to the teams tower fending of those who would try and destroy it. Once killed the electrical shield guarding the towers entrance deactivates

Archer, Soldier, Mage:
These NPCs are weaker variants of players that patrol in your teams forest, tower, courtyard and Crystal Chamber. Once killed replacements will spawn back in some time later unless the areas base has been destroyed


Classes: Fighter, Mage, Ranger, Healer, Miner, Forager, and Guardian.

Fighter: Your goal is to kill enemy players while defending your teammates
Aspects: Damage, Defense.

Mage: Your goal is to kill enemy players in team fights while disrupting the battlefield
Aspects: Damage, Disruption.

Ranger: You are much like the fighter but much more mobile and fragile.
Aspects: Damage, Mobility.

Healer: Your goal is to heal your teammates while staying away from enemy players
Aspects: Healing, Mobility.

Miner: Your goal is to fight off the creatures of the mines while getting valuable metals, gems, and loot for the team
Aspects: Resources, Spelunking.

Forager: Your goal is to gather resources from the forests while also defending them.
Aspects: Resources, Defense.

Guardian: Your goal is to defend your towerpoints, your teammates and the Eternia Crystal.
Aspects: Defense, Tanking.


Map Format!

Team1 Base – Team1 Tower – Team1 Forest – Center Biome – Team2 Forest – Team2 Tower – Team2 Base

*Note these are in order of location from left to right for Team1 and right to left for Team2 each starting with the graveyard
Team Base consists of…
• Graveyard: Respawn point for dead teammates with 15 second respawn time
• Eternia Chamber: Where your teams Eternia Crystal and Eternia Guardian reside
• Storage: This is where public and private chests are located for storing goods
o The mine entrance will also be located here
• Resource Pickup: Resources that are being mined will be split among all players in a private storage vault for them
• Courtyard: This is where a large open area in between the storage area and the tower. NPCs will patrol here attacking enemies
• Tower: This is the Tower preventing the enemy team from safely getting to your Eternia Chamber. The tower has automatic ballistas that will shoot down enemy players if they try to go over it or behind it. To deactivate them you must destroy the Tower Crystal that resides within the second floor of the tower. To get to the crystal you have to kill the Militia Captain who patrols near the front of the tower. Once he is killed the electrical shield will dissipate allowing you to enter and destroy the crystal.
• Forest: Your teams forest lies outside of the tower, this is the largest open field you will fight in and where you will get your wood.
• Forest Encampment: This is a small encampment that lies in the center of your teams forest. This encampment will spawn NPCs to aid you in your defense. The encampment must be destroyed by killing all enemies in it and then capturing the flag there. Once the flag has been captured the encampment will be burned to the ground.
• Center Biome: The center biome is one of the deadliest areas, with many hostile enemies to both teams this place is the center of the entire map and at the beginning of the match will be a random biome picked from the following…
o Mega Forest: Like your forest except much more and larger trees
o Tundra: Lots of snow and ice as well as freezing water
o Desert: Desolate sandy place with some ant lion pits, watch your step
o Ocean: Don’t like water combat? Too bad this area starts with a beach on each side but then falls into a large body of water filled with all sorts of fish
o Crimson: This area is gorified with blood-soaked trees and horrible monstrosities as well as maw-like structures coming out of the ground. Unlike the other biomes certain events may cause this biome to start spreading to each teams forests.
o Corruption: Purple and evil this place is, filled with holes in the ground that lead to places you don’t want to be. Unlike other biomes certain events may cause this biome to start spreading to each teams forest.
o Hell: Obsidian towers and lava lakes, this place is a living hell. Powerful demons will make sure you think twice about staying here.
• Underground mines: Both teams have an underground mine that spawn ores and treasures over intervals of time, the deeper you go the better the ore and loot, but also greater is the danger.
o Underground Dungeon: Randomly shaped dungeons will spawn underground, these house loot but are guarded by skeletons and other horrors.
o Trap room: These are small rooms with a chest in them, inside is a trap that can instantly kill most players.
• Underground Center Biome: This is the underground of the center biome. More loot and ores reside here but are guarded by that themes enemies except much stronger.
• Underground Center Shrine: At the very bottle there is a large flat open area with a shrine in the center, activating the shrine spawns in that themes boss which will attempt to kill all players nearby. If killed it will drop powerful gear. If it kills all nearby players it will despawn. Either way the boss has a Cooldown before they can be summoned again. Each time the boss is defeated they become stronger the next fight for the specific team that defeated it.

Maybe it could have different starting tiers based on progression? One being Pre Boss, then Post Evil boss, Post Skeletron, Hardmode etc.

Although, Lord Exramox is probably right about it being more suited to a dedicated server.
 
It’s cool, and definitely has a lot to stand on, but I don’t think it’s quite enough to be its own game. It would fit better to be a server game, so I agree with the others. I also agree with what Ω has to say. It would defo be cool to see different odds after bosses have been defeated, eventually getting lunar gear.
