Your Terraria Device
iPad Air 3 (A2152)
Mobile OS
iPadOS 18.6
Device: iPad Air 3 (A2152) with latest iPadOS 18.6
Game: 1.4.49565
Problem:

I installed Terraria on this device for the first time.
When hosting or finding local multiplayer games, App doesn’t ask for the local network access so it couldn’t find other hosts or be found by other devices.
My another two iPads works well, maybe because they asked the access permissions normally long ago.
I haven’t tried all other apps that need LAN access yet but Landrop (share files between different platforms with LAN) did request LAN access normally on this device.
I have tried these:
1. Reset the network settings of iPad
2. Reset all the settings of iPad
3. Reinstall Terraria
The asking for LAN access permission dialog never showed.

To make sure it’s the problem of the App or my iPad, I reinstalled Terraria on one older iPads with iPadOS 16.7.11, and Terraria did ask for LAN access permission when hosting a game and the local multiplayer games works fine.
Then I reinstalled Terraria on another newer with iPadOS 18.5 which local multiplayer games working good and this time, the asking lan access permission dialog didn’t show up too, exactly the same as the iPad Air 3.

BTW. There is no Terraria in the list of Local network access App lists in iPad privacy setting. Terraria appears there after the request dialog show up either allow it or deny it.

So now we can confirm that Terraria has a bug or compatibility problem in iPadOS 18.x where it fails to properly request local network access permissions?

This is an internal problem. A quick fix is to go to the Terraria app permissions in your settings DIRECTLY and allow it. If this does not work, that is Apple's problem for (likely) changing the code for it.
