Terraria Halloween Contest - 2023

the answer to this is probably pretty obvious, but could i draw anything as long as it has terraria and halloween themes? i’m planning on creating a comic that features my own characters and i just want to make sure that it’s ok to do that.

I upgraded my lego dungeon, by redoing skeletrons arms and made the EOC. I hope its gonna win.

Hey Guys what's crackin?

Can I submit that both for characters and buildings?
Or does the character have to be on a white (diamond gemspark wall) BG?

Trick or Terraria!? It is that time of year again! Happy Halloween fellow Terrarians!

We're pleased to announce that we are running another Halloween contest! Much like last year, not only will members of the Terraria Community Forums (TCF) be able to participate, we are also inviting participants from Twitter (X), Discord, Reddit and Steam! We want this contest to be a celebration of the entire Terraria Community as a whole, so whichever of the communities you are a part of, you'll have the opportunity to submit a spooky Halloween themed creation for this contest!

Continue reading for the details regarding submission, deadline, and prizes!

You will have your choice of 5 categories to submit to. No matter what category, this is a Terraria Halloween contest, so your entry should reflect both Halloween and Terraria for the best chance to win. This year you are welcome to enter more than one category - however you can only win in one! If someone is a winner in more than one category, we will award them the prize for the category that they did the best in.

  • Pumpkin Carving - Create a Pumpkin Carving that is Terraria themed. Once you have a carving, take a picture and submit it as an image.
  • Costumes - Create a real life Terraria themed costume.
  • Artwork - Includes traditional drawing, painting, digital, and pixel artwork. Please note: AI generated content is not permitted.
  • Builds - Buildings and in-game creations created within Terraria itself. Can be captured with the in-game screenshot tool or your device's own screenshot capturing options.
  • Vanity Set - Create an in-game Terraria vanity set inspired by your favourite franchise or character.

To give you a sense for the sorts of amazing entries that we see for this contest each year, check out the Showcase and Winners from the 2022 Labor of Hallow's Eve contest!

Am I able to submit my entries at different times? Or do I have to do it all at once?

Ooooooooooook................. Be safe....... Iguess

I’ve been waiting to actually do something on Halloween for once and then my something is to do a goofy Terraria building lol

You can do different times I believe after you submit you have the option to go back and edit your submission

OK, I have some questions I need help on
1. Does the character have to be on gemspark wall BG like usual or can I make my own cool build/BG that's different from my building category submission?

2. Does the character need to be from some culture (comic, game, etc.) or can I make my own using vanity, armor, and accessories? It's an interesting and mysterious-looking one, almost like a monster, but I don't know if it really works for Halloween, as there aren't any pumpkins and that related stuff.

3. Will a haunted house with a graveyard count for the build?

4. Do I have to use photos only or can I record a video if it will work better to showcase my work?

5. If I can, can it only be a short .gif or can I make a 20-second video?

6. Can I use my character (Terrarian) in the build to show the solitude aspect more clearly? (it's different from the vanity submission and doesn't contribute a lot to the build)

7. How large can the build be? Mine fits in the screen, but you can't see the interior of the room as it's accessed by the teleporter and therefore needs a video or 2 photos, with the video being a superior option for what I want to make.

8. Can my artwork feature the build or the character from my 2 other submissions? They're still different submissions and they would be just an element there and not the main focus, so I was wondering if that was fine.

9. Can you use resource packs? I assume not, because y'know when you create one you can make whatever you want which gives an advantage over other players.

Haunted House with graveyard definitely counts, as it's Halloween, and I'm pretty sure you can make a video if it makes it better.

The thing is, it's not really clear that it's haunted. I took inspiration from real ones, but still, it's just a gray house 2.5D house but scari decorations
It has a shadow candle, book of skulls and other elements that make it "Halloweeny", but I'm not sure if that'd count

As long as it has a graveyard near it, it works. Also, you could add cobwebs in the corner and such to make it a bit more "Halloweeny", but as long as it has a graveyard and some spooky decor, I think it'll be fine

Just for a note, I really want to see some changes for the bosses in Terraria you if there are any spelling errors for sure then fix it.

Thank you, yes I added in some cobwebs there as well already.
@ice15464
not sure if anyone has replied to you yet, but you use existing items (armor, vanity, dyes and accessories) in the game to create what you want! You can change your character hsir to blue, find matching clothes, dye them.. I think you get it

Loki said we shouldn't limit our ideas, go for whatever

Gifs work, I wouldn't know about the length of it

No, to keep it fair for console and mobile

Is this allowed for the "character" category?
