Secret World Seed Terraria of Future Past

Zekeram12

Queen Slime
Everyone likes looking back on the good ol' days, right? Thinking about how much better everything totally was back then? Well, why not relive some of it? This seed would bring back a few... key features from classic Terraria.
...For better or for worse.

World Generation
  • No slabs or slopes will generate. Everything comes out as a full block.
  • No more surface Jungle. Who needs that, anyway?
  • Floating islands generate like they did back in the day: with 0% clouds. So sad!
    • To compensate, lake islands are now made of dirt and stone.
    • Additionally, sky island houses are now made of either Ancient Copper, Ancient Silver, or Ancient Gold Brick.
  • Where applicable, bricks are replaced with their Ancient equivalents.
    • Additionally, Jungle Shrines will only be made of Ancient Gold Brick and will contain normal torches.
  • All of For The Worthy's returning world generation quirks return too! (locked sky island chests, all underworld towers are hellstone, etc.)
  • Trees will always generate with the classic leaf style, seen in the logo.
  • The original ores (copper, iron, silver, gold, cobalt, mythril, adamantite) will always be chosen.
"Fun" Quirks
  • You can no longer automatically walk up one-block ledges.
  • All Ancient equipment replace their modern counterparts.
  • Just like in the Constant, cacti hurt.
  • The Corruptor's Vile Spit spreads the Corruption again.
    • For fairness, consider allowing the Ichor Sticker's Ichor to do the same thing for Crimson, even if it's not a feature that existed since Corruptors lost that ability in 1.2.
  • All NPCs are named after their profession.
    • i.e. Guide the Guide, Merchant the Merchant, Tax Collector the Tax Collector
  • The Old Man no longer has dialogue at night. Instead, right-clicking him will immediately summon Skeletron.
  • The Magic Mirror costs 20 mana to use.
  • The Clown's Happy Bombs destroy tiles again.
  • Fledgling Wings are no longer in the Sky Island loot pool because I'm mean.
  • Platforms are only crafted in batches of 1.
  • Like in For the Worthy, Angel Statues can be found in place of Underground chest loot. However, they can no longer be placed.
  • Rocket Boots are no longer purchased from the Goblin Tinkerer. They must be obtained as a drop from the Goblin Army.
  • The "lava wall" just above the Underworld now continues all the way to the bottom of the world.
  • Ebonstone is now immune to bombs once again, and crimstone is now immune to bombs for the first time in order to match. If you want to blast through them, you'll need a stick of dynamite at minimum.
  • You know all those recipes that got changed over the years because they were too annoying? Y'know, like how Jungle equipment used to require Silver gear and gems? Or how Hallowed equipment needed all 3 tiers of hardmode ore equivalents of that thing, plus a bunch of souls from a mechanical boss? Yeah, those are annoying again. No Hallowed Bars for you. Suffer.
Loading Screen
A few simple effects:
  1. The old title screen easter egg (normally triggered by clicking and dragging the sun) automatically triggers.
  2. The loading bar disappears.
  3. The background of the title screen is disabled.
  4. The sun uses the sunglasses sprite, as that sprite still uses the sun's pre-1.2 design.
  5. "Smoothing the world" does not appear in the loading text.
Additions From the Replies
  • No more Ice biome. Guess you'll have to settle for throwing snowballs on the surface.
  • Medusa once again spawns in pre-Hardmode and has X-ray vision.
  • Negative torch luck is back, baby! Better book your appointment with the Torch God as soon as possible.
  • Breaking Altars now has a chance to infect a random stone block in the world with light or dark again. I didn't even realize they removed this.
  • Remember how evil spread was changed so it no longer destroys the Jungle, and it was literally the best change in the history of the game? It would be a shame if something were to happen to it.
  • A few ideas for loading screen text that would replace "Smoothing the world":
    • "Aging the world backwards"
    • "Making the world retro"
    • "Equipping nostalgia goggles"

That's all I've got for now. If anyone has any ideas to make this more evil "nostalgic", feel free to share.

Perhaps, this world gen text could instead be replaced by something like this: "Aging the world backwards"

Most of the time, secret world seeds have fun texts even if the experience shows otherwise, and this could give a general idea of what to expect from the world seed. While we're on that, it could also involve reversing the day-night cycle on the loading screen as if we were traveling back in time. Anyways, nice suggestion. I really like the idea of taking inspiration from the past to innovate, this time quite literally being the case.

This is exactly what I'd love to have in the game. I have 3 additional add ons though:
1. Hallow and Corruption's V is now random instead of based on seed, and breaking demon altars corrupt random blocks again
2. The old snow biome gen is back, meaning spawn can now be snowy on top of being hilly too
3. Old Dungeon gen. No more cracked bricks, and maybe another brick color as the dungeon wall

EDIT: and 2 more!
4. Slime banners affect all slimes, just like the old slime banner did
5. Spelunker Potions make ore glow again as light sources, lighting up the underground

I actually forgot about this... I can't believe I managed to wipe that feature out of my memory so quickly after it had been in the game for years. I think I hated it just that much.
I'm the 1% of people who liked it since it really helped finding the underground X if X didn't generate properly (like Hallow with the Jungle in its path)

I was actually even more surprised. "Hey, wasn't that always a thing? Oh, they removed it."

But yeah, adding that feature back definitely makes the game fun

and breaking demon altars corrupt random blocks again
...Wait, they don't do that anymore? Since when!? That's absolutely going up there.

Corruption/Crimson doesn't destroy the Jungle by converting mud blocks to dirt.
that'd be one more thing to do away with in this seed.
Ooooooo, that's a good one.

2. The old snow biome gen is back, meaning spawn can now be snowy on top of being hilly too
I'd actually considered that, but the issue there is that the old snow biome generation was pretty much just "1 in 3 chance that a world actually has a snow biome, unless it's christmas season" and that just felt too cruel. As far as I can tell, my reversions have somehow managed to avoid making anything unobtainable so far and leaving whether or not the world has an entire biome up to chance was going too far.
Though, now that I think about it, the Clentaminator is outright unobtainable on a don't dig up world, so maybe something could be done there? Maybe knock out the underground snow since that didn't exist until 1.2?

I'd given a little bit of thought to this, but I couldn't think of any big zinger lines that'd call back to earlier versions. The best I was able to come up with was "making the world retro" but that sounds kinda dumb.
...Oooo! How about "Equipping nostalgia goggles"?

1.4.4 iirc, maybe 1.4. I forgot which one, but definitely recent

I was mostly mentioning how until 1.4, the snow biome was a lot wider and could generate in the spawn area. 1.4 undid this though, which is a shame because I loved snowy biome spawns
