Terraria players, what is your most painful moment you had while playing the game?

completed all of the fishing quests, then changed to playing tmodloader. all my achievements? gone. i still need to redo them, but i really don't want to.
also currently i'm 100%-ing journey mode, so i'd like to include that, too.

My worst was getting killed by a giant tortoise during my first Plantera battle when it's at 100 health

The time I left Plantera at 17 health (The frostbite didn't kill him before he died)

Playing Legendary Mode with a group of 3 people.

The amount of times someone accidently triggered a Queen Bee and we either all had to die, regardless of map position, or had to take the time fighting it off.

Same goes for Jungle Mimics in hardmode.

The experience of silently hoping it doesn't do the 'your inventory is filled with trash now' attack :D

I recall we have placed a chest or two in the Jungle arena JUST to clear up the block clutter.

The first time I got a hardcore character to post golem (in expert level world), I was really worried about dying to moon lord, or a solar pillar enemy or something - because those were by far my most common deaths when playing normally. So I was stalling a bit, just building stuff and trying out different weapons, and generally just messing around - waiting for the right time.

Anyway, that character ended up dying to a illuminant bat. I was building something in the caverns, and basically ignoring enemies because I didn't think they were a threat. I'd killed hundreds of those bats, and I thought they basically couldn't hurt me - so I was just focusing on my build rather than the enemies. ... I was so shocked when the character died. Apparently it didn't occur to me that the bats *were* a threat when I was using my building gear rather than my fighting gear. It had taken *ages* for me to get to that point; and I didn't even get to have a shot at one of the battles that I was actually worried about. So that was painful. A totally anticlimatic silly end to an otherwise great run. Usually I delete the hardcore world after losing - but this one I'm keeping as a reminder.

After that, I started a new character with new knowledge and determination; and today I got the hardcore victory. It turns out that moonlord et. al. aren't too bad if you are prepared. I played poorly in the fight, because of nervousness, but still won comfortably. And the painful losses from earlier hardcore characters make the ultimate victory feel a lot better.

I recently remembered one.
During a Master Mode Multiplayer class run, we had just beaten Duke Fishron. I had been using Black Spot the whole fight so I could use my wing slot for I think it was Mana Cloak instead.
After the battle, I dismounted... and promptly died from fall damage because I hadn't re-equipped my wings yet.
I'll always be very embarrassed by that death.

nothing big... but when i was farming for ancient shadow armor to get some good gear early on, i was getting a lot of copies.

when i FINALLY got the full set, i immediately went to equip them, only to press the button that trashes items.

i ended up throwing away the pieces that somehow didn't have a single copy drop. %:sigh:
