ADD A UNIQUE DROP
I honestly think it should be moved to pre hardmode and not be christmas exclusive
then it could drop presents or something

Why use that over a torch?
Directional light. Particularly handy if you can't place a torch for some reason (out of torches (as unusual as that may be) or out of reach)

yeah it looks like an underworld pylon to me
Then a new NPC for underworld coming? I know the underworld is NPC habitable, but I thought it serves the same as caverns and underground

I've previously talked about the transparency issue developers have, especially in State of the Game, and how the hype is ultimately going to kill this update.

And the river is already starting to run. In the Steam discussion section of the State of the Game March 2025, you can already see the frustration of many players because they haven't simply released the update yet, or if there is a planned release date. To top it all off, this frustration is being received by Terraria merchandise, since now, they take up more space than they should for something reserved for the State of the Game, causing frustrated players to take out their anger on Terraria merchandise.

And don't get me wrong, I already know this is Journey's End 2.0, and they're going to do exactly the same with the Journey's End update. But the problem is that there's more at stake now than just a big update, here is a list:

- The Dead Cells crossover. (The hype for this crossover is already dead.)
- The aforementioned Terraria merchandise.
- The new crossover with PalWorld (They haven't even released the previous crossover and they already have another one on the list).
- Crossover with non-gaming brands (food, textiles, etc.).

It feels like they keep announcing it, but there's no release date, no transparency about what's happening with the update that's taking so long. And to top it all off, to make the State of the Game page longer and more content-filled, they fill it with merchandise (it's basically filler) and community art (no one complains about this, but it takes up a large portion of the page).
I'll repeat, I have nothing against the developers or their free updates. Yes, they need to make extra money from the merchandise. But as players and part of the community, it would be good to have transparency on two things:
1. Why is the update taking so long?
2. The expected release date of the update.

I believe that with these two clear points for the community, much of the anger and frustration that is beginning to grow more and more would be resolved.

And please, stop starting State of the Game updates by saying the update is getting closer. The developers have been saying this for about a year and a half, and it's getting pretty tiresome to read that without first resolving the two points mentioned above.

It’s a big update.
2. The expected release date of the update.
Thing is if they say, idk, “June 2026” and realize they can’t make it, the fanbase will be angrier if they just left it blank.

It’s because they don’t have much else to announce and reassuring is nice when they don’t have a date ready yet

I'm pretty sure everyone on development is more than aware of growing annoyances and frustrations.

A release is wanted by R-L even more than the players want because they know more than anyone else how long it's been pushed back, but pushing something out the door right now would be equally irresponsible.

Your list of things in the OP isn't just listed to that, either, because cross-platform compatibility was on the roadmap for after 1.4.5, and people are very antsy over that - it's the only thing I imagine there's more demand for than consoles getting access to mods or the return of Ocram, and unlike those two it could actually happen.

I understand it can feel frustrating being primarily interested in one or two things and feeling like those are being dangled over your head. However, at the end of the day.. we still have a complete functional game, and there are other games you can play as well.

I do agree a vague idea of how much stuff is left to work on would be nice, but it'll be done when it's done.

Steam forum users are often going to be angry about something anyway.

Hi @Towa I’ve moved your post (and any replies) into the State of the Game thread. As was mentioned to you in the past, if you want to discuss any of these points you’ve brought up, it’s best to do so in these (SoTG) threads.

still waiting...

One thing I didn't explain well about my frustration and disappointment with the update is that it seems the developers didn't take into account and didn't emphasize in their SoTG posts that unforeseen events can happen when developing an update as large as 1.4.5.

Their mistake was that they stated with SO CERTAINTY that it would be released in a certain year that when they postponed it to the following year, the community was upset and deeply disappointed. (If I said something wrong, I apologize.)

NAH☠️☠️

So excited for this update! Was wondering if we could add a chest search function for those of us who don't like to organize.
Also the ability to shimmer monster banners into rare drops? Blue slime banner into slime staff, for example?
And the ability to use accessories we only have one copy of in all of our loadouts. So our boots could be in all of our loadout slots without making three of them.
Also some kind of Shimmer Locator or something. It can be a real pain to find sometimes.
And maybe make NPC Housing have a 'safe zone' around it so the Wall of Flesh crimson/corruption spread doesn't shoot straight into player homes. Really rough if that happens at the start of hardmode.

Shimmer can be found fairly easily, just dig around on Jungle side. I don’t know the specific measurements, but each world size has a specific range that the shimmer can be found within

This isn't a perfect solution, but alongside what ChomperRex said you can actually get a pretty good idea of where the Aether is in your world as long as you remember the name of the Guide you spawned with
Does require a bit of math but works like a charm from my experience

Oh my word! My build was featured! That wasn’t even something I intended, but I appreciate it!

then what? for the record I posted it when it was still not in English
No, it's not that, bro. It's just that I almost had a heart attack thinking that I had lost my written work, the site had simply bugged.
