Directional light. Particularly handy if you can't place a torch for some reason (out of torches (as unusual as that may be) or out of reach)Why use that over a torch?
Then a new NPC for underworld coming? I know the underworld is NPC habitable, but I thought it serves the same as caverns and undergroundyeah it looks like an underworld pylon to me
It’s a big update.1. Why is the update taking so long?
Thing is if they say, idk, “June 2026” and realize they can’t make it, the fanbase will be angrier if they just left it blank.2. The expected release date of the update.
It’s because they don’t have much else to announce and reassuring is nice when they don’t have a date ready yetAnd please, stop starting State of the Game updates by saying the update is getting closer. The developers have been saying this for about a year and a half, and it's getting pretty tiresome to read that without first resolving the two points mentioned above.
Hi @Towa I’ve moved your post (and any replies) into the State of the Game thread. As was mentioned to you in the past, if you want to discuss any of these points you’ve brought up, it’s best to do so in these (SoTG) threads.I've previously talked about the transparency issue developers have, especially in State of the Game, and how the hype is ultimately going to kill this update.
And the river is already starting to run. In the Steam discussion section of the State of the Game March 2025, you can already see the frustration of many players because they haven't simply released the update yet, or if there is a planned release date. To top it all off, this frustration is being received by Terraria merchandise, since now, they take up more space than they should for something reserved for the State of the Game, causing frustrated players to take out their anger on Terraria merchandise.
And don't get me wrong, I already know this is Journey's End 2.0, and they're going to do exactly the same with the Journey's End update. But the problem is that there's more at stake now than just a big update, here is a list:
- The Dead Cells crossover. (The hype for this crossover is already dead.)
- The aforementioned Terraria merchandise.
- The new crossover with PalWorld (They haven't even released the previous crossover and they already have another one on the list).
- Crossover with non-gaming brands (food, textiles, etc.).
It feels like they keep announcing it, but there's no release date, no transparency about what's happening with the update that's taking so long. And to top it all off, to make the State of the Game page longer and more content-filled, they fill it with merchandise (it's basically filler) and community art (no one complains about this, but it takes up a large portion of the page).
I'll repeat, I have nothing against the developers or their free updates. Yes, they need to make extra money from the merchandise. But as players and part of the community, it would be good to have transparency on two things:
1. Why is the update taking so long?
2. The expected release date of the update.
I believe that with these two clear points for the community, much of the anger and frustration that is beginning to grow more and more would be resolved.
And please, stop starting State of the Game updates by saying the update is getting closer. The developers have been saying this for about a year and a half, and it's getting pretty tiresome to read that without first resolving the two points mentioned above.
NAHtranslation:
One thing I haven't explained enough about my frustration and disappointment with the update is that it seems the developers didn't take into account and didn't emphasize in their SoTG posts that unforeseen events can happen when developing an update as large as 1.4.5.
Their mistake was to state with SO CERTAINTY that it would be released in a certain year that when they delayed it to the following year, the community was upset and deeply disappointed. (If anyone misspoke, I apologize.)
then what? for the record I posted it when it was still not in English
This isn't a perfect solution, but alongside what ChomperRex said you can actually get a pretty good idea of where the Aether is in your world as long as you remember the name of the Guide you spawned withAlso some kind of Shimmer Locator or something. It can be a real pain to find sometimes.
No, it's not that, bro. It's just that I almost had a heart attack thinking that I had lost my written work, the site had simply bugged.then what? for the record I posted it when it was still not in English
