I just created a bug report, your argument is also absolutely correct, so I would appreciate it if you could post it there.
I don't think any change needs to be made tbh. I find myself using different ones for different projects (they have quick toggle convenience vs no slot cost convenience) and spectre goggles tends to be the one I use a bit more often, so I think they're balanced with each other like this.

I remembered something: why do the Strange Plants, which are exchanged for dyes at the merchant, only appear in hardmode? Sometimes we want to decorate our character with different colors in prehard and we can't; we have to defeat the Wall of Flesh just to get access to them.

They used to grow at any time in 1.3
That was changed in 1.4

I don't know the reason either.

I miss this feature. It felt like there was one on each sky island.

If I recall it was something about giving players time to experiment with the normal dyes before they get the super edgy crazy dye.

Of course, it's not like you really get much dye to mess around with considering how rare a lot of it ends up being if you want a specific color that isn't yellow or teal.

Truth lol

I'd also like to see information about the Pirate's Curse and Spiked Slime in the Bestiary. The lack of Spiked Slimes on Classic worlds could definitely be addressed. For example, they could appear but not shoot spikes, or it could be explained that they only appear in worlds with more challenging conditions.
In classic mode, they could appear if King Slime is summoned in hardmode.
Also THIS! I would even include information about the Golden Slime and Jungle Mimic! ^^
Let them spawn in any world near a Tipsy player.
"I swear I fought a jungle mimic!"
"Don't listen to that drunkard's tall tales."

As for me, I'd like drills to work like the shovel, but for all blocks including stone and ore. Everyone knows the drills are useless; they're slower than pickaxes and make an annoying noise. But if, instead of digging one tile at a time like the pickaxes, they dug a 3x3 square of tiles, then they would have a use. Since all drills are hardmode-exclusive, I don't think it'd be a balance issue -- if you're in hardmode, you've already fought the Wall of Flesh, so there's no harm in letting you build a hellevator faster.

Has anyone else noticed the new moon-related block & furniture set in the background of the State of The Game banner?

I pointed it out earlier, yeah.

Do we think digtoise won't be doing any damage to mobs and mostly just digs?

Would be cool either way. We don't have anything else like it.
"it feels modded" but as a compliment. Should be meant as one more often honestly.

For now we don't know if Digtoise is a pet, a minion, or something new. We just know it has a summon animation and it can be directed to dig.

I didn't include Digtoise on the list because we don't know if it's a pet or a summon.

The Great Owl of War is because one of the State of the Game banners shows an owl in a frame, so I thought it might be coming in an update.

Pretty sure the owl is there because the banner was showing off the fact that owls are now placeable. You can see them in the full image:

Pondering Possible Content, continued:

Am I the only one hoping some of the AI changes (not stat changes) from ForTheWorthy make their way to enemies in Master Mode?

I was gonna make a suggestion on that and although I'm all for making MM more than just stat changes, I think the reason this most likely won't make it into the update is because this kind of changes would make FTW and GFB a bit less unique. I suppose the right way to do it is implementing FTW enemy AI changes to Master Mode and adding some more difficulty to FTW and, consequentially GFB. In my mind this added difficulty would probably have to be something similar to the environmental changes Fargo's Souls' "Eternity Mode" adds (i.e poisonous water in the Jungle) but a bit less punishing. What do you all think?

If I have to choose whether I prefer to have a more interesting game on a higher difficulty level or only on a special seed, I prefer that these changes be linked to the difficulty level.

I know it's a placeable critter there, but it's still a possibility that the Great Owl of War could be added.

Will Moon Lord have more drops for the other classes? And will the pillars have a third drop for each class?
Summon we have 3 weapons, while the other class we have 2 weapons each
