Terraria State of the Game - October 2024

Played the heck out of that one and played Dinkum aswell.

Doing a Fallout 4 playthrough atm.
Planning on getting back to Terraria after the update releases. Assuming it ever does.

I'd recommend playing some Risk of Rain 2, if you can. Other potentially fun games I'd recommend include Wii sports and Wii sports resor (grind out and beat everything and everyone) and Lego Star Wars:TCS

Oh and maybe undertale for the heck of it

Where did Loki said anything remotely like this?
Especially since it contradicts with what was recently officialy said about there being no estimate release.

Tho unlike your previous updates this one doesn't seem to be getting any closer to being "ready" for quite the long time.
But who knows maybe in 2 more years it will be finally ready.. That assuming the "best case scenario"

At this point i would personaly prefered if the update ended up as actual small crossover with Dead Cells like it originally was to be long time ago + QOL stuff attatched to it.
And rest of the large potion of the "content fluff" added later "when it's ready" in another update. One can dream...

To clarify the teased QoL changes is the thing i am mostly "impatient" for.
As most of these are downright game changing. In a good way, fixing some of the long standing annoyances Terraria has.

Let me rephrase myself.

The moment for small scale release has passed. Now anything limited will be considered underwhelming. Nothing that Re-Logic did or said justifies heckling in the form of: "maybe in 2 more years it will be finally ready".

I did? Pretty sure all I said was we had planned to give an update in next SOTG and that it was "looking likely" it will be pushed. Just so that there is no confusion.

Not sure where you got heckling from - who is heckling anyone? Also not sure what we need to justify? As said previously, it will take the time it takes to get to the point where we want it to be. Sometimes - as in the past - updates get to a stage and you still feel like something is missing. This is the way it has been since the beginning.

The other fact is that the larger the game gets, the more interwoven pieces that have to be tested and balanced as you add anything new.

Anyway, we have a general idea of what is left, plan to sit down and discuss if we need anything further, and we will see where we sit on that timeline soon.

Not sure where you got heckling from - who is heckling anyone? Also not sure what we need to justify? As said previously, it will take the time it takes to get to the point where we want it to be. Sometimes - as in the past - updates get to a stage and you still feel like something is missing. This is the way it has been since the beginning.

The Jungle Juice spoiler is amazing and congratulations to the painting winners, the third place painting is the most beautiful in my opinion. But why don't the developers announce right away that they will have to delay it until next year instead of stalling and saying "just a little longer"? If I was a little rude, I apologize.

It comes down to progress on the lists and possibly a few other decisions we need to make on possible content additions.

discard out the possibility of them releasing the update in December. What irritated me a little was that they said this in 2023 October's State of the Game: "but it is looking increasingly likely that we are looking at a 2024 release for 1.4.5". They spoke with such certainty, with such affirmation.


They will spend months and months talking about the list of what should or should not be added. Seriously, I'm sorry, I'm trying my best to occupy my mind with studies, drawings, other games and other things. It is not my intention to disturb and rush you. You can take as long as you want.

Honestly, if we get 1.4.5 this year even if its before Christmas/New Year, otherwise if they have to push it back to at least spring 2025, I totally understand, Id rather you guys polish it up and work out the kinks first, and I used to play TMLoader a lot, I still kinda do, but ironically I used to prefer TModLoader to Vanilla, now I prefer Vanilla to TModLoader for some reason.

I mean, super healing potions are pretty cheap when you think about it. You almost always end up with more fragments than the weapons you want, and you only need like 4 potions at most for moon lord (assuming the fight takes 3 minutes (which is pretty long in my experience) and you’re using charm of myths AND you’re using potions the moment they’re off cooldown.)
You need 1 of each fragment to make 4 potions, so that amounts to 1 of each fragment per moon lord attempt on potions.

You're right, I thought they were more expensive, but I still think that being able to create 3 jungle juices for so few materials is going to make the supercurative potions lose a lot of prominence. And I don't even want to think about major healing potions anymore.

With the Juice you will have 180 hp potion for almost entirety of hardmode. And you will get +20 to it for the very end-game. Super health potion needs to be over 200 to be interesting. Or provide some other useful effect. As for me latter is better.

Now that you mention it, I just remembered that not even my endgame character has 500 health, in fact, I think he has 490 or something like that. So yes, getting extra life fruits may be very difficult but there are always lucky people. Taking that into account, I do think that jungle juices are going to be like wrath or endurance potions, which personally, I consider optional when fighting bosses, that is, I don't think everyone is going to be spend extra time farming life fruits to create potions that only give you 30 extra life compared to the greating healing potions. But if you manage to create enough jungle juices, they could even help you defeat moonlord, and that's why I still think that supercurative potions are going to lose a little importance.

I think Super Healing Potions have the connivence factor though. It's not like you need fragments post-moonlord for anything except armor and life fruits are hard to find

Im saying that jokingly, as for the Jungle Juice, at least if its too underpowered or overpowered itfll get buffed or nerfed in a following update, since the devs are all about balance, though that meant a few of my favourite weapons like the Fetid Baghnaks and the Terra Blade got heavily nerfed in the past, but eh, its their game, though, personally Id like them to bring back the axe power factor of the Laser Drill, I kinda miss that now.
