Terraria vets, what do you remember about the Terra Blade?

Hey everyone! First time posting here on the forums. Wanted to try getting this question out there because I'm doing some research on the Terra Blade.

I've been trying to get some insight on the reception of the Terra Blade when 1.2 released initially, and how the perception of the Terra Blade changed with the release of weapons like Horseman's Blade and Influx Waver. If you've been playing long enough to remember anything like this or could link me to some forum/social media discussions about this topic that would be wonderful.

Feel free to share any personal experiences as well, whether it be from back in the day or now. I'm truly curious to see how people view the Terra Blade.

TIA!

When it 1st released in 1.2, I think it was the most powerful sword in the game at the time. It was spectacular and was "the sword" to get. Being one of the main goals in many playthroughs. It was amazing how it continued the crafting tree from the Night's Edge which already involved several swords.

I don't use Halloween weapons very often, so I didn't really use the horseman's blade instead of the Terra blade. I enjoy having sword beams.

In 1.3 I perceived it as still a good weapon to get, but now the Influx Weaver was stronger. Then there were the Meowmere and Star Wrath that took the place of the new ultimate swords.

Then with 1.4 it became an ingredient of the Zenith. It was far more incredible as it represented part of the entire Terraria Journey.

Lastly with 1.4.4. With the buff and new mechanic, it's one of the best swords to have, even being somewhat on par with Lunar Tier weapons now. It feels justified being a post-plantera weapon currently.

Also as someone who uses melee a lot, it is a favorite weapon for sure. It has evolved very nicely, just as Terraria itself has.

I started playing in 1.3, so it didn't feel that special to me because there were better swords and it wasn't that different than the True Night's Edge and True Excalibur other than gaining autoswing. I didn't even use it because I got a Crimson Key and the Vampire Knives carried me until the Moon Lord's debuff stopped it from healing me.

After 1.4.4, it feels as legendary as it should be. My only complaint is it's too easy to get for a weapon that's at least as good as every other Post Plantera weapon. If you're playing Melee, you were probably going to end up with all the parts of the Night's Edge anyway and Mothron is easier to defeat than the rest of the bosses. (other than maybe Golem, but does it count? :p)

I remember it being kind of lackluster in 1.2-1.3, I never really preferred it and stuck to ranger class. After 1.4 Terrawhip became a thing and I think that was the peak of Terra Blade.

The Terra blade was more simpler in 1.2. It did not have those wavy things, instead it shoots green swords. It's probably the only best sword in 1.2, (Copper shortsword aside).

oh boy, my favorite weapon of all time, in any game, ever.

to me, the terra blade isn't just "a weapon", it is the icon of terraria itself, and one of the most iconic things that have ever existed in this game. it has always had a place in my lineup, and always will, unless the developers remove it for some reason, but that's probably not happening (and even if it did, i'd just make a mod for the sole purpose of re-adding it

).

with the 1.4.4 update, it has only cemented itself further as one of the greatest weapons in the game for me, alongside the zenith.

I remember the old recipe to craft it( true nights edge and Excalibur+ 2 broken hero swords) and how bad I wanted the broken hero swords that I traded them for a rod of discord(I never got it back). I remember the old attack where it shot out a sword beam. The good old days;(

The Terra blade was firstly introduced in a lil 1.2 teaser of waterfalls.

Back then, Sword Beams in Terraria were non-existant. And it felt mind-blowing to me when there was a weapon that acts as a projectile and a sword at once (a feat. not even classic starfury had).

Since then, I was already sold by the weapon and the glorious green trails they leave behind. And I accosiated my main character with it.

The way how it combined both the Night's Edge (best sword combined from multiple swords in 1.0.5 and pre-hardmode still) and the Excalibur (best sword that used to be made from multiple combined swords in 1.1) made it felt like it lived up to the legacy of the ultimate weapon of combining swords.

The weapon at first felt a bit underwhelming, as it didn't even had autoswing (and there was no accessoire or feature that could do such a thing). But I felt like it was a master of skill to keep using it by clicking. Until they eventually gave it autoswing at 1.2.4.

Eventually, it got outclassed by weapons from 1.3, and I felt a little disappointed that these weapons are just dropped, with no significiant background or lore implications behind it. As such, I kept sticking with the Terra Blade, as that felt like the real weapon of Terraria.
Eventually I agreed with it that the Terra Blade is the best sword on the world, since other swords are basically alien.
(I forgot about Horseman's Blade, but the same thoughts kinda applied)

Eventually around 1.4, the Zenith got introduced, and that restored the legacy of the "ultimate weapon made from swords throughout the journey" again, and in my opinion, the best way of an endgame sword after playing it since 1.1.

The Terra Blade also got some glow up, along with all the weapons used to craft them in 1.4.4, and I think that's warranted to keep up with the game's evolving style. I think the Terra Blade is now at the best spot it could be.

I joined around 1.2.3 IIRC so the Terrablade at the time was the definitive “end-game weapon” kind of like how we view Zenith today.

After being barraged by like 4 solar eclipses in one IRL day, I had enough broken hero swords to make it (and a bonus eyespring pet too), so I did and really enjoyed it. The beams it had didn’t do astronomically amazing damage, but it felt like a balanced endgame weapon, and it was extremely fun to stack the beams on each other while flying with them.

Yrimir then made a video about the horseman’s blade being able to deal far more DPS with a set up that spawned a ton of pumpkin heads. I wasn’t able to beat Pumpking at the time anyway so I wasn’t too bothered, and continued using it until 1.3 or so when The Last Prism got introduced. I didn’t get Influx Waver, but Last Prism became the new endgame weapon.

I still collected the components of Terra Blade, but wouldn’t go out of my way to achieve it, Which thankfully allowed help with making a few Zeniths from that when it got introduced.

1.4.4 changed that though with its new buff. The Terra Blade became really good and a great post plantera option, since its “waves” deal a great amount of DPS, and I always go for it on melee playthroughs. I still do miss the beam stacking though, it looked cool

my experience with terrablade in mobile 1.2 version was too good, in this version and 1.3 was very op. now is a zenith component, but still very good but not too op like older versions, i like this balance in the game

It took a CRAP load of time to get the "broken heroes sword" on old gen console.

I remember me and my older brother would always get back from school and immediately get on the xbox 360 just to try and grind at getting it from "Mothron". Only, after learning that the controller logo meant "console" and not "Old Gen Console" so we spent about 2 weeks worth of playing and struggling to figure out why "Mothron" wouldn't spawn only to find out about the console thing. Then we found out that we needed to find three of them from "Frankenstein's" or "Swamp Thing's" and when we found out, He admitted to finding a "broken heroes sword" after killing a "Swamp Thing" and trashed it, thinking it was a "useless item". I don't blame him cause we didn't research it then. In the end, we never were able to make the sword cause it was a super low chance, and we needed 3, so we just worked with what we had.

Funny thing was, we needed the sword cause that was the time when "Skeletron Prime" was hella difficult and felt impossible to kill.

I got the PC edition, and got the terrablade easy, before they changed it, so if you need any info from before the update to it, let me know or ask, I won't mind trying my best at answering. If I remember, lol

I have been playing terraria for many years and I remember it was the most powerful sword in the game and I remember it needing more skill then I had at the the time and that getting the terra blade was so annoying that me and a friend of mine used a duplication glitch get get me one and he swore that if I managed to lose the blade he would kick me from all of the worlds that we played together

One of the first things I saw checking the wiki was precisely the Terra Blade. I knew I wanted that weapon one day, but I was still barely learning the ropes back then. About a year later, when I finally got serious about killing Ocram (I was playing on PS3 back then), one of my goals before was getting it, and I had a greater understanding of the progress and mechanics. It felt so good getting it at last.
