I suggest a time limit on name change requests. Changing one's name three times in one day is just ridiculous.

Look at it this way, they will quickly be at their 10 and then that will be it.

I still don't think some folks understand this, even though I've stated it here, there, and in the changelog OP.

This is not a name reservation system. It's a name change system. Once you hit 10, you are done.

That said, considering a time throttle too - it's a bit much for some folks

i think a day would be a good amount of time in between name changes. sometimes individuals get caught up in excitement and do things they end up regretting. i think Asami's idea is good to help individuals quality control themselves and avoid those situations. i think it would be beneficial and make community members happier in the long run.

I have a really needed suggestion
the ability to edit comments
pleeeaaaaaaaszzsse
Do it for the children

I just had a suggestion, which may not really be possible, but I thought might be worth bringing up anyways.

I would like to receive an alert whenever a significant edit is made to a post that I have liked. The editor of the post would need to manually mark "significant edit" for it to work; it would need an additional check box in the editing interface.

Again, don't know if it's possible right now, but it was worth a shot.

It might be currently possible to enable emoticons in profile posts or it could require a plugin, but the profanity filter is no reason to be excessively crude, and derogatory slurs aren't acceptable either way, filtered or not.

I was thinking that when searching for a member using the search bar, it should also include results of people who have "previously ___" that match too.

So, should I count on him seeing this or should I PM him or what?

I tagged him, so it will be in his alerts. I'll raise it to him separately.

To set expectations, Skiphs priority focus is on the game itself. Any involved coding on the forums would not be a priority - unless it were some critical-path need. Thus, I'm afraid I cannot promise you anything on outcomes or timing at this point. Apologies.

So I've recently discovered that you can view people's warnings on their profile.
Is there any good reason for this? If not, may I suggest removing this option to the general public?

I understand that mods need to see these for a variety of reasons, but I don't think they should be publicized.
I think it encourages bad behavior. It shames people, and intentional or not, I think it would make others think less of them.

People may look at a person, see the warnings, and go "Oh, look at this criminal. They're obviously not worth my time" .
(slightly exaggerated, but that's besides the point)

Again, I can't see how this would provide anything BUT negativity. I think it should stay something that's just between the person and the mods.

It shames those receiving them? Good. It tells them they should at least try to behave better in a forum. It does what it should do. I won't even look at how many warnings someone has, but at how they interact with others - and very often, there's a correlation between both.

I wouldn't go as far as calling them "criminals" since there's no crime, just lackluster behaviour. At most, it shows immaturity. A problem that's easy to fix if the person's willing to, unlike criminal behaviour, which takes a lot more effort to correct, even if the person's willing to stop.

I couldn't disagree more.
Their punishment should be points that lead up to a ban. Simple, strict, and done with attracting as little attention as possible.
Even the best of us mess up sometimes, including mods, leading to a warning on a person that's usually very well behaved. Even if they're not people that typically behave well, I see no reason to rub salt in the wound. They're already getting punished as it is.

I would like it if the player creations forum had a sub-forum dedicated to guides only. Currently the guides are mixed with videos of LPs, reviews, previews, and other videos, and it looks like the guides will be soon lost amid all the other stuff. I hope the mods don't let this happen. The old forums had separate sub-forums for guides only, and when I first started out building I greatly appreciated having threads dedicated to guiding players how to build things all in one location without having to wade through non-guide threads. The number of active terraria engineers is diminishing - we used to have quite a few back on the old forums. Guide can help inspire, but not if they are lost amid a sea of other videos.

And how do normal members know one of their friends wasn't just banned out of the blue and for no reason, then?

You're really asking for warning points to be hidden to the public, hence letting open the possibility of "conspiracy theories" about banned members - something that doesn't need encouragement, at all.

May be just me, but I have a thing against allowing the authorities to do things in secret. Especially things that involve "crime" and punishment.

Can we stop getting an alert per comment on a profile status? We only get one per topic, but we get one per reply on statuses. It just floods our alerts. I'll get on and have 20 alerts to find out 15 of them were all for the same thing.

Also, I have no idea which alerts are for which status. I might comment on 5 statuses of the same user, and have a bunch of alerts for all of them, but I have no clue which is for what, so I have to open them all and exit out all the repeats until I have just those 5. With one alert per status, instead of having 30+ alerts to sort through, I'd only have 5 to check up on.

Hope these changes can be made, thanks for reading.

This is done in the interest of transparency and community review of staff actions, not to shame anyone. Was similar on TO, and we saw no reason to change here. If the community at large desires a change, that's easily done.

So you want a subsection for guides that are not tied to the platform areas (note that there are guide sections for each platform) for guides related to random stuff? That's doable, if I understand you right.

I've looked endlessly for a way to make this happen - thus far, those efforts have borne no fruit, I fear. :( I still plan to keep looking...this and a few other items are on a very short list for me of things I'd add if I could.
