I had gone from the beginning of the game in this world, after starting over. I'd explored the sky with gravity potions, wings, mounts of all stripes. I felt certain there were no more islands, I knew every inch of my world. And yet it wasn't till now, riding the UFO mount, that I stumble onto this:

I have this happened in my main world:
mine looked like this (now purified):

I encountered such a thing in my friend's world.

Additionally it was encroaching on a rather interesting conflux of biomes.

Okay, this was in one of my XB360 worlds, and, I had this world for a while. I needed to collect Ichor, and I saw this while I was doing so:

Even weirder, when I broke two ordinary Crimson Hearts and then the Shadow Orb portion of this one... THIS happened:

Either RNG is messing with me, or this is just really lucky world-gen.
