This is my first time ever making an OC, so if there's anything you think could be improved, let me know (don't like rewrite the entire character, though).

Appearance: White skin, messy brown hair, blue eyes, black leather jacket (unzipped), gray shirt, metallic tooth (hidden)
Personality: Smart (in terms of math and hot-air-balloon piloting), Insecure, Shy, Clueless.
Equipment (Optional): Wrench, Miniature Flamethrower, Goggles.

Backstory (Optional): Jones was born as an orphan in 7692 AE (after expansion. That basically means after the colony of space he lives in was made). Being part of Planet - 8,576 (of the 9,784 planets in the region he was born), Jones was quite poor, and had to take a job when he was only seven months old. From that time until now, he has engineered and piloted many hot air balloons. His only real secret is that he has a body of wires and metal under is flesh and bones, but this is information he cannot reveal to stay alive. He has made no real friends, but has many online.
Abilities: Poison-Resistant Tooth, Portal-Opening (opening one consumes his life force, which basically puts him in a coma for a few months).
Strengths: His Abilities, Intelligence, Tools, Aviation Knowledge
Height: 5'5.75
Weight: 117lb
Exploitable flaws: Social anxiety, clueless, cannot function under pressure, has to hide that he's a Cyborg

This is more curiosity than nitpicking or anything, but what's the lore reason for why hot air balloon engineering was a paying job in 7692 AE when space travel across thousands of planets was commonplace?

It is entirely alright my friend! I'm just glad you're able to enjoy yourself. If there's too much to think about, then don't feel pressured to do anything.
Accepted! I can use his backstory to further the plot.
I'd recommend sharing your music tastes using your character's theme! I have a bunch of steampunk/Victorian and sci-fi inspired albums laying around in my YouTube library. A song such as this I believe could be of some interest: - Sam Jones, by Leslie Fish on the album: Carmen Miranda's Ghost.
Try investigating text colours!

Young Jones could have operated on rich worlds where "relic" technology is highly sought after by scholars, historians, physicists and those interested in understanding natural science, specifically in the areas of weather conditions.
Hot air balloons could at this stage be incredibly cheap to make yet super durable and reliable in stormy conditions; perfectly suited for quick, expendable means of transportation across frontier worlds with stormy atmospheres.

Just here to say I could theoretically apply Kelyn without his suit at this point because I have the details of his gun written down now too and he'd still have access to his powers without the full suit. I might do this so I don't hold the RP back from starting while I work on the suit's design and details, and he'd just put on the suit at a later time when it's finished instead.

Though, the Stinger might be conveniently recognized as a weapon, and therefore you will be lacking an actually functional weapon unless you borrow Xueqing’s umbrella or nano rope from her, others from others or snatch one yourself. (We most likely will have some external initial weapons available due to the current lore of some soldiers being put down)

If you see the thread labeled “Single thread RP”, expect the OOC content (such as discussion and applications) to show up inside the actual RP. This is a thread labeled OOC, so the in-character RP will likely take place somewhere else. Definitely not this thread though.
@Esther you can insert multiple occupations. For me, Xueqing went with formerly Hollow Agent, formerly self-employed restaurant owner, indie dev, nano machine researcher and starfarer.
