Guys I trying to defeat the destroyer what do I need?

I always like to get a nimbus rod before trying to fight the destroyer. It helps out a ton. Set it before the fight and then forget it, and it'll do passive damage for you. Beyond that, make sure you have lots of platforms high in the air, buffs like campfires, heart lantern, potions, etc. A repeater with jester's arrows works great, or farm a hallowed mimic to get the daedalus stormbow with jester's arrows.
