Biomes & Nature The Jungle's bitter rival: The Relic

Hello, I am here to talk about an entirely NEW biome- not a Corrupt/Hallow alternate- found underground. It is called The Relic, a steampunky-mechanical themed biome.

Since I don't have a spriter, I will just describe what things will look like.

The biome is, before hardmode, just an orange-ish brown rectangle located in or near the Jungle. It is made out of a metallic, unmineable (ever) substance. However there is a door. After dealing 50 dmg to the "Gateway", it will break, allowing the player inside.

Once the player is inside, a green -and-brown orb with lower itself from the ceiling. It will float around for a moment, then 6 jagged blades will pop out of the sides, it will rotate very quickly and charge the player. This is the boss, called The Curator, and it does 30 points of damage, having 5 defense, and 1500 healths. When it's life drops to 50, a red light will appear in the center and it will explode. The explosion deals 100 damage to the player if the player is within range. It has a chance to drop several things, which I will explain later.

After that, the player enters the building, called "The Engine." Inside said engine, there will be a chest with one of the items I will list later. Also in the core are 6 "Creator Vats" These somewhat resemble furnaces, and they act as mob spawners for a somewhat weak mob called a Servitor which I will explain in the Mobs section. the will line up in front of the vats until there are 6 in the "squad." Then they will all start moving, and they will either attack the player or ignore the player and march out the door. Once outside, the will begin to spray Oily Pollutant into the jungle slowly contaminating and converting it. Luckily for the Jungle, the spawn rate increases when Servitors are active, and they will attack the robots, attempting to defend their homeland. However, the Engine itself cannot be reversed, but the converted Relic outside of the Engine can be.

Mobs:

Servitor: 30 hp, 2 def. 15 attack, and they shoot a laser at players and the Jungle monsters doing 5 dmg with good knockback.

Pyro Skeleton- 40 hp, 5 def. 30 attack (melee) and they use a flamethrower, doing 30 dmg and inflicting On Fire! sometimes. They look like skeletons in gas masks and flamethrowers.
They only spawn in what was once Jungle...

Stingithopter- 25 hp, 5 def, 20 attack, (melee). They have a 25% chance to fire a burst of 3 bullets from the gun on their tail, doing 10 dmg each.
They spawn in place of Hornets.

Hardmode-

Oil Tanker- RARE mob- same stats as Pyro skelly x2, resembles a big 4 legged robot with little flame spewers on the sides. When it dies, it explodes similar to the Curator.

Gyrotron-same stats as blazing wheel, looks like a buzz saw blade, they spawn in place of clingers.

Contaminator- a big, bulky mech. it fires shells that explode on contact with a block, doing 50 damage. The explosions have a chance to spread The Relic. 100 hp, 50 def, 50 attack.

Sub-curator- a miniature version of the curator. 150 health, 0 defense, and 40 attack, they go through blocks and behave similar to a Flocko, except there are constantly spinning. Somewhat rare.

Now, the moment we've been waiting for......THE LOOT!

Chainpike- 20 dmg, , it is a spear with a rotating blade on the end. Drops from Gyros, The Curator.

Blowtorch-a mini-flamethrower, uses gel as ammo, short range. !5 dmg. Drops from Pyro skeleton, The Curator.

Contagion Clasp- an accessory that resembles a small green and black orb. It gives all your damage a chance to inflict Acid. Drops from curator.

Smog Cloud- a magic weapon that spews a greenish mist. It behaves differently from most weapons, creating a huge cloud that expands before dissapating. 15 dmg.

FROM DUNGEON CHEST:
Item name: Curator
function: it is a really bizarre weapon. You throw it and it zooms around, spinning, dealing massive damage. Only when there are no enemies left onscreen will it come back. It can go through blocks, and resembles a sub-curator very closely. Dmg: 85. It does Ranged damage.

Other Stuff:
Debuff- Acid. It like poison, but it reduces the effectivity of armor and weapons by 10 percent, while also hurting you. Inflicted by Sprayer.
Debuff- Infected. The player cannot move,or use items, for 5 seconds. Inflicted by the corrupted water in the jungle. HOWEVER, Rod of Discord and grappling hooks can get you out of the Infecting Substance.

Npc- He is called The Pilot. He always sells an assortment of things that change each day. However he always sells 3 things- a Rusty Battery that summons a pet Curator, a vanity set, and the Radioactive Pollutant, which is an infinite gel. Torches made from it will be green, and it works for Blowtorch and Flamethrower, except they have a chance to inflict Infected. Also, he sells for 75 gold a magic weapon called the Shockwave Protocol. It resembles a microchip. It uses 40 mana, and when you cast it it releases a huge, expanding bubble of electricity. It does 35 damage and slows enemies it hits, expands for 3 seconds. Piercing.
Possible Names- Ben, Reece, Vincent, Nikolai and Spike.

Sprayers- things that pop up instead of dart traps, they spray acid and inclfict Acid debuff, but do no damage themselves.

The Mechanic and Tinkerer will occaisonally say " Who designed the Engine?"
The dryad will say sometimes if the Relic has reaches the surface: "Not all threats are sentient."
The Steampunker will say periodically- "What's this? A servitor?! NO!"

Brown Solution- sold by Witch doctor- turns stuff into jungle with Clentaminator.

The Corruption should NOT effect the jungle, since you will be dealing with this.....

As you can see, the trick to this.....threat is to deal with it before it gets too big, since the Clentaminator works on the Relic. However the Engine itself cannot be removed.

Suggestions welcome...and I hope you have fun.

this is a very interesting and VERY intense idea you have. i am both captivated and mortified by it in the long run as well. i pose a question however, if it can not be 100% reversed, can it be contained?

[edit]
that aside, i will admit, i do like where this is going

I suppose if you put an un-corruptable substance around it, yes you could contain it. But remember, mud doesn't work because the Jungle is made out of it.
[DOUBLEPOST=1414342393][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, keep in mind none of this happens until after you open the door and defeat The Curator.

i can actually live with that then
i'd probably make glass and contain it that way, and just enjoy this destructive biome that is lurking within the jungle waiting to be released upon the world

with your elaboration for me given, you have my support!

-Cheers!

First, this sounds a little too much like the cyber for them both to exist, and though i like this, i would choose the cyber over this. Second, the name "Relic" sounds a little too much like a ruined stone city. Did u ever consider the name Mecha?

The point was so you couldn't remove the Engine....

Can't say I'm happy about another biome that can permanently destroy the jungle... I can see that you worked hard on this though.
See, part of the point of this was it's optional. You never HAVE to open the door, it was meant to be sort of a challenge.

Depends on what block you use...
[DOUBLEPOST=1414362179][/DOUBLEPOST]However, that might ruin the point, there should be a way for it to spread at least a LITTLE, or it would be sitting there uselessly like a hardmode Hive; No one would even bother with it.

The reason no one bothers with the beehive in hardmode is it doesn't get anything new once hardmode is activated, there's no reason to go back unless you need forgot to get a bucket of honey or you need hive blocks

I can't support this, first off it interferes with the current progression as the jungle is important at multiple points of the game. Secondly it provides no benefit for the content added.
You do get points for effort but this would probably work better as mod content rather than vanilla content.

A few problems, but I definitely like how it spreads.

One, the damage. Most weapons deal 15 to 20 damage, but the Curator deals 85 for no apparent reason.

Secondly, the debuffs. "Acid" is fine, but the "Infected" debuff is way too strong. Being unable to move for five seconds means instant death if anything even remotely dangerous is nearby. Also, if you can't move and the debuff is given by a fluid, there's no way to escape.

Very good idea overall. Being able to somewhat reverse it with the clentaminator was the icing on the cake for me.

The Curator is a DUNGEON CHEST WEAPON
