Oddish has been my only hunted shiny so far
all others were either cheated (I tried; gen 3 odds are garbage.) or out of nowhere (read: Kaye's entire shiny collection, Lastia's 3 shinies (one of which is an Alpha too))
I still have no idea how I'm supposed to get a shiny for the team in Ultra Moon :c

It took me about a day total I think
Tons of horde battles
but it was worth it

If you have the hoenn remakes, get something with Sweet Scent (*cough* Get a Gloom and name it George for bonus luck), and choose something that can be found in horde battles
then, keep summoning hordes with the Sweet Scent user (George), kill them all if you want or need EXP as well, and keep going until one is shiny
Bring a multi-target attack, but also a single-target one for when you find the shiny
Multi-target kills everything
Single-target kills everything that doesn't matter so you can catch the shiny
