If you're unsure about it

get a mod that either gives you a ton of HP
or just makes you not take any damage (preferably the first though so there's technically still the very small chance of dying)
and use it until you feel comfortable with not using the mod
and just enjoy the scenery until that

Normally I'm not the type to recommend cheating
so far the only exceptions I've made are for Evergate (Where it's an ingame option that just makes it more enjoyable)
Crosscode (for the above reason)
and Hollow Knight (where again, it would just make it more enjoyable for you)
