Single Thread RP The Last ROLEPLAY Post Wins

Roxas: "Not really."
"...How...do you manipulate it then?"

Evi would help with this, starting with Mae as it is far easier than dealing with Lightning.
Mae's cast would have been set upright with the bottom still attached to the ground, so that Evi can support it while Sarah moves it along with her magic through the portal.

"...How...do you manipulate it then?"
Roxas thinks for a bit, then shrugs.
"I dunno."
"Where I'm from it just... works, I guess."
"I'm sure a magic researcher like Asuri would be able to give better answers, but I don't think she's here right now."

"I was good with magic as soon as I came into existence., so yeah."

"...Geez...no wonder you can't manifest what you call your "main" weapon..."
Edge scratches the side of their head.
"...Ok. Ok."
"We can work with this!"
"..."

Edge sort of awkwardly goes silent, clueless as to how to get started on helping out.

Roxas only briefly seems insulted about that comment.
<I probably deserved that one, honestly.>

"Try forming your weapon again."

Roxas tries to...
(D10: 4)
(Well, at least it's accurate.)
...And fails, the same result as earlier with the flickering.

Roxas explains what he was doing.
(OOC I'm not actually sure how to properly word it, sorry. Feel free to fill in the blanks yourself though, I might even be able to use it later when writing.)
(I've been sort of taking the month off in terms of working on projects like lore writing, but that at least means I have my writing energy mostly available here.)

(Could you not at least try to word it? This is talking through Roxas' perspective anyway. He's probably not gonna explain it right on his first try anyway unless he's literally a magical genius.)
(Bit hard to work with just an OOC shrug for this little plot.)

(Feel free to just continue this later if you can't rn.)

(I can try, but I'll edit this post later once I have my best attempt in notepad.)
(It might take a little while and I have to go in a few hours, after which I'll first have to set up my laptop and do some technical work before being able to get to writing again, so hopefully I won't get sidetracked too much
I'll also see about making at least a document-only section for weapon summoning in my writing document, like I have for teleportation effects already)

(Edit: Here's what I was able to get written down in Notepad.)
[The way OC_Esther summons her weapon usually involves summoning it in its scabbard (this is why she always has it even though it usually appears to be empty), but she can also summon it already in her hand and ready to be used; the latter is what Roxas is basing his summoning attempts off of.
The reason he has more luck when he uses his Quality while summoning the weapon is because it allows him to focus on just getting it right without any potential distractions or emotions getting in the way.
He's also had more luck in the past when with Esther, most likely due to the motions already being familiar with her body compared to Roxas' own.]
(Roxas is basically using his light arrows, which he's very good at creating, as a sort of "base" to help him summon the sword. [In a way, kind of like using training wheels on a bike; he's even worse at summoning the weapon if he doesn't do this]
The arrow acts as a starting point for the hilt, and the blade has to be created manually. [This is why the blade's color is different for each form of the sword, but the hilt's color is almost identical for all of them] [This is also why the sword (at least its only current design) looks similar to an arrow]
As for how he's forming the blade, he's simply trying to shape light into the right form. While I would compare it to Amulet's Obsidian Arrows, which are made using Shadow Energy, I can't really consider it a good comparison as he didn't use a bow until recently. I'll still mention them here because they similarly take some effort to create.

The reason he has trouble summoning it consistently is most likely primarily a size difference. He's used to the arrows, which are formed pretty easily because of their small size, so he struggles to keep his focus on the process for the extra time needed for something like a sword. He can summon the knives more easily, if he wants to use the knives that is. Sadly it's rare for him to use those.
I think that's about all there is to note for now.)

(...Thank you for listening.)

<...Yeah, hehe.>
Dark continues forward.
<...The whole thing with Vinessa was a...long story.>

Several flashes zip by in fast succession.
A mound of vines that is V's vine armour, obituary pictures of 3 murder victims, V being kept in a pot...
V running Dark through with a spiked drill root thing...
Them fighting side by side on the moon?

<...Maybe I'll tell you about it another time.>
“{I won’t reiterate how odd you are..}”

“{We’re done here. Get to work.}”

She abruptly goes silent.

Garundel watches their slow progress, grunting a bit with the effort of holding the portal open for so long.

<Will do.>

Dark takes a deep breath as he proceeds in silence.

Garundel watches their slow progress, grunting a bit with the effort of holding the portal open for so long.
Sarah, noticing his grunts, tries to pick up the pace while being careful with moving Mae and Lightning's body. Mae should be almost about to get through the portal by now.
"Tell me when you need a break."

(...I was expecting you to be able to synthesise that into a reason Roxas would say himself for why he thinks (as opposed to why he actually can't) he can't summon his sword...buut...eh. You tried. I'll take it, I guess.)
(I'll chalk it up to Roxas stammering a bit since he wouldn't know as he wasn't focusing enough.)

"..."
"You weren't focusing, were you."

"I don't know, maybe..."
“…”
Edge sighs softly.
“I may not know your magic system, but if your magic is anything like mine, it’s an exercise of the mind.”
Edge lifts up a paw as they, concentrating, create a green orb.
“Focus and concentration are some of the key principles of magic. Lose focus, lose concentration, and your spell, whatever magic feat you’re trying, won’t work.”
“Do you get what I’m saying?”
